A great spot to unwind and have a few drinks… wether a nice cold beer from their various well stocked taps or any other concoction you fancy. Food is very good standard pub grub served hot and plentiful. Always a nice atmosphere to be had by all!
Fantastic pub with vegan food!!! The kitchen opens at 5pm...and they have vegan hotdog with fries!!!!! Yummy. Really friendly staff and the ambience is fantastic. Take your time looking at the lovely framed pictures on the walls .
2021 -2022 I like this place. Their music selection fit me. Neither TV nor football, but I enjoy brixton beer, good Guinness and good vibes. I recommend the south Indian curry. Also, other dishes are good.
Celebrated our work Christmas Party at The Duke of York. Such a wonderful place, very happy I selected this pub. Staff was amazing, so helpful and lovely, really made us feel welcomed and catered to our every need! We hired a space at the back, enough for 10-15 people which was beautifully decorated and easy access to the bar and toilets! The staff kept checking on us every so often making sure we were happy. They even played our music request - which just topped the night off!! Food was great, we ordered off the Christmas menu, 3 platters - which was really tasty! Plus we ordered from the main menu which was so good. Food was sent out quick. Food and drink prices were reasonable! Definitely recommend this pub! Plus easy to get too, 3min walk from St John’s Wood train station.
Great place! Super dog friendly and absolutely wonderful staff. The food was great and so were the drinks. They managed to give my dog some treats too. The music and vibes were great as well. Will certainly be returning when in the area
This is my local and I do enjoy it. Especially in the summer as they have extra outdoor seating. However, two things really are frustrating. They close the kitchen early usually before 8pm but even more painful, it's not consistent. I've experienced it being shut as early as 6pm so on any given night, they just close it when they feel like it. It makes it difficult to ever plan dinner there. The other is the fact that they don't take Amex. Realizing the extra cost that is associated with Amex, it can't be that material considering the volume they do.
Food was good but not great, however the place had a decent atmosphere and was a nice stop on a Saturday afternoon, and only a short walk from St John's Wood tube station. My chicken baguette was a little underwhelming, and the chips were bland, so if I came again I'd try something different. My friend had better things to say of the salad though.
Nice place for a pint . But sometimes is very busy when cricket is playing
Proper English pub, the staff treat you right, with extreme attention to detail and friendly attitude. While the beer selection is not the widest but it is of good quality and you can't beat the location! Lots of interesting artefacts on the walls, including the Beatles photos and handwritten lyrics the Abbey Road studios are just up the road. There's outside seating with service, a fireplace, etc. Food was good but the chips very dry and greasy and coleslaw off? were poor. Just leave them and eat the main. Overall, great experience, well worth the visit. Patrons are of very diverse backgrounds and easily strike conversations, that's great!
Went a little while ago for dinner, and without being rude was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was.. I had prawn pasta and it was bloody lovely… restaurant was busy and the staff were attentive and chatty… an overall great experience and I wish I had been back for more than just pints since… a solid boozer in SJW… if you are around these parts you can’t go wrong with it!!
