Te Manawa

This is the 6th library I am visiting in Auckland. It serves as both a library and community hub and it is designed as such.nnHighlights would be the childrens play area, the stairs leading to the upper floor and all the parcificer touch it has.nnIf you are someone who likes to read in quite spaces it might not be quite right as it is bustling with life.nnI personally dont mind but I think it is worth mentioning.

It’s a great place and always tidy; however, lots of events get cancelled last minute for seemingly no reason. This happens all the time so when they announce an event that sounds really cool, most of the time it doesn’t end up happening. They’ve also closed the library with very short notice. They used to have more toys as well as a large selection of children’s books. Now, only woke books are available most of the time so you always have to request books online but the whole point is to take the kids to choose a book and take it home; service has been declining overtime.

Te Manawa is a modern, well-designed, and clean library and venue hire space. I have been hiring the venue for my dance classes for some time, and the facilities themselves are great—suitable for community use and well-maintained.nnHowever, my experience with the management and staff has been quite disappointing. On multiple occasions, there have been serious issues with access and communication. For example, a few times the doors were locked while we were still inside, even though my booking was until 6:30 p.m. As we were finishing up only a few minutes past time, we found ourselves unable to exit and had to call Auckland Council emergency services to be let out. This has happened at least three times, which is very concerning.nnAnother major issue occurred recently when Te Manawa was closed despite me having a confirmed evening booking. Around 18 of us arrived at the venue only to find it shut, with no prior notice. We tried calling but received no response. Eventually, Auckland Council informed us that the venue was closed. While I later received a call offering a refund, the issue is not about the refund—it’s about the lack of communication. It is very basic and essential to notify confirmed bookings in advance, even just an hour or two before closure.nnOverall, while Te Manawa is an excellent space as a library, GP service, and venue hire facility, the management and communication processes need significant improvement.

Absolutely amazing place for kids and adults.nnWe came in for a Justice of Peace of and it was done in a minute. Great, friendly, and helpful people.

If these libraries are some sort of mecha building robots. Central city will cry when they saw Te Manawa. Joke aside, I hope every library has high tables like Central city for people who has chronic back pain.nnCheck my photos for their comic displays.
