After browsing so many different options, for like 20 days, I finally booked Swiss belsuites in pounamu, for our stay, but I am so glad I didn’t chose some of the other places, I short listed, because this place is central, level to walk, well connected by public transport, which we prefer, just a 10 min downhill walk to city centre!nEven though Swiss bel view is on the Frankton Road and traffic noise is bothersome occasionally, it is very convenient to travel as the bus stop is 100 meters from the hotel!nWe bought a Bee Card city transport card for $5 dollars and fill it with $50, which was good for me and my husband for the whole 4 days we stayed here! Direct bus to and from Airport to Swiss bel view.nVery conveniently and centrally located, no slopes to walk, large one bedroom apartment, hassle free check in, separate living room along with full kitchen, bedroom and bathroom!nTea coffee, sugar, milk, dishwashing soap and laundry soap provided for the shared laundry between 2 apartments!nWonderful stay, lake views from the floor to ceiling glass windows were absolutely breathtaking. Picture won’t do justice to the enchanting views!nI didn’t give five stars only because the furniture was dated and worn off, dishes were chipped and fry pan and spatula was badly burned and these things were still in the kitchen supposed to be used by the guests!nBathroom was small but it had towel warmer, and heated floor, big help in the winters, all the toiletries were provided too!nHighly recommended to fellow travellers, for the ease, this place checks all the boxes!
We had a superior room 321b. Excepting a view but we got a view of a concrete wall and weeds. Not cutlery to eat the continental breakfast. This is a nice room backing onto the room with a view. The key didn’t work on the outer door. Very disappointing. Bed needs replacing. Do not ever book here
We had a 2-bed 2-bath apartment located on the main road overlooking the lake. The apartment was sparcely furnished with terribly uncomfortable couches and sad-looking cheap furniture. The beds were saggy and worn. The apartment was clean and the views with doors closed were lovely, but the road noise prevented us from enjoying it with doors open. We stayed 1 night.nnA warning for those with mobility issues: There is no elevator and there are many steps - 2 steep and narrow flights plus additional mid-flights - to this and other units. Luckily, I am capable of lugging two 45lb bags up the steps but my 76yo mother would have been SOL without help.
Nice enough for the price and a 10 minute walk to town. View from the lake front with balcony room is amazing and breakfast is a nice touch. 3 stars because the cleaning crew should do a better job - many long hairs in the bathroom, on the towels and bed. Also would appreciate it if the daily cleaning involved wiping the kitchen counters down. I would have been happy to do it myself if cleaning supplies would have been provided.
I truly had some memorable moments in Queenstown, New Zealand — it was my first time traveling such a long distance, over 11 hours of flying, with my family to get here. Despite reading many reviews and preparing myself in advance, I never expected the unfortunate experiences that actually happened during our stay.nn1. Upon arrival, I was quite shocked by the excessive number of stairs and the rather illogical layout from the reception area to our room. Thankfully, while I was checking in, two staff members who had just finished their shift kindly helped us carry our luggage to the room. Otherwise, I honestly can’t imagine how we could have managed three 28-inch suitcases and two smaller ones through at least three separate stair sections on the way.nn2. One of our two rooms did not have the note containing the Wi-Fi information. When we returned from sightseeing after 8 p.m., the reception had already closed, leaving us unable to access Wi-Fi that entire evening.nn3. The worst part is what I’m experiencing right now while writing this message from my bed at Swiss-Belsuites Pounamu. My family left for Wanaka at 10 a.m. this morning — quite a long trip — and when we came back around 9 p.m., we found an A4 notice informing us that the water supply would be shut off from 8 p.m. on the 4th until 6 a.m. on the 5th. I honestly have no words. After a full day out, we couldn’t shower or do any personal hygiene, and it seems the notice was only issued this morning.nnI am truly disappointed.
