Copthorne Hotel & Apartments Queenstown Lakeview

We stayed at the Copthorne Hotel in Queenstown during the Christmas period late December 2025 and overall had a pleasant and comfortable stay, particularly suitable for families.nnThe room was spacious and practical, which made a big difference for us while travelling as a family. The two double beds were very comfortable, with good mattress quality and restful sleep throughout our stay. Our ground-floor room offered good views overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains, which added a special touch to the experience. The Wi-Fi worked well, and the shower had good water pressure and temperature, both of which we appreciated after long sightseeing days.nnThe reception staff were genuinely warm, friendly, and helpful, and all our interactions with them were positive. They were approachable and made us feel welcome throughout our stay.nnThe breakfast was decent and enjoyable, offering a standard spread you would expect from a hotel of this category. While nothing stood out as exceptional, it was satisfying overall. During busy periods, some items did run out and took a little time to be refilled, which slightly affected the flow.nnWhere the hotel could improve is in attention to smaller housekeeping details. While towels and linen were changed regularly, the bed was not always properly made, often feeling more tucked in than fully made, which was a little surprising for a four-star property. Toiletries were not consistently replenished unless requested, and moisturiser was not provided, which we found unexpected given Queenstown’s cold climate.nnOverall, Copthorne Hotel offers comfortable rooms, good views, reliable amenities, and friendly staff, making it a solid choice for families visiting Queenstown. With more consistent attention to housekeeping details, the experience could be elevated further.

The hotel is great and very well located.nnThe staff is super friendly and helpful.nnThe large window is something to consider — it offers a fantastic view, but privacy can be an issue, especially on the lower floors. The lake view is beautiful, so if that’s important to you, try to book a room on level 2 or higher.nnThe hotel also has a spa available, but you’ll need to book it in advance.nnBreakfast could definitely be improved. During my stay, it was quite hard to find a clean table, as many hadn’t been cleared in timer.nnI liked!

The room is decent and clean. Nice touch from housekeeping to put our daughter's plushies on her bed every time they made it. She noticed it.nThe distance to town is a nice walk and convenient. Kitchen chefs room service and breakfast needs a lot of training but was quelled by friendly staff. A big shout out to Kayce from Dunedin. She has made our stay at the hotel most accommodating. Its only her first week, but her local hospitality has added a personable and very memorable first experience visiting New Zealand.

Very disappointed. Supposed to be a 4 star hotel but falls way short. Reception had a mouldy smell about it and the hallway looked like something out of The Shining No aircon or recycling facility in room every other place we stayed at, had both of these. Bathroom was dated and carpet didn’t feel clean. If you’re paying for a 4 star hotel, you’d expect a lot more than this! On a more positive note, the guys at reception were very helpful.

Great views, we had a 2 bedroom apartment. Bedrooms were upstairs and we had two showers and a toilet.nThe downstairs was living, kitchen and a toilet.nnWe only had 1 night here but the staff were friendly and helpful. Free parking was handy because its expensive to park in Queenstown.nnA short walk into town, so the hotel is a great location.
