I posted this to the "French Bakery" business in Akaroa but I think they are called Sweet As Bakery and moved to a different location which is registered in google as a French Bakery. Anyway: The photos doesn't do the meals any justice. We were in Akaroa on a sunday morning and nothing was open! We almost gave up but came across this french bakery and they were kind enough to let our dog sit in. I had the eggs benedict and partner had the crepes. They also have a big selection of French baked goodies and they were all so good. I had a big bag of takeaways and they are almost gone as I am writing this. Buttery pastry, flavours of macarons were blended nicely and the blueberry custard tart was heavenly! Coffee was also really well blended and crafted. The place really shows the French influence in Akaroa. Would love to come back soon! Also our dog enjoyed the pats from the servers! Thank you!
Was recommended by my baker friend. Good job at baking!! Muffin is light fluffy and delicious. Coffee is great!! Lots of seats in the front yard. Beautiful place to have afternoon tea!! Croissant looked great as well.
Not smart but just what I was after, a French inspired Kiwi cafe that knows bread and breakfast European style. Not that I could have any bread, croissants et 'cos I'm a coeliac, but could still appreciate its ambience and expertise. My coffee was good.
It is not France but they try hard. Good selection of pastries, croissant and sandwiches. Good for breakfast and to stock up for snacks to take on hikes or other outdoor activities. Staff friendly.
Very good place for lunch. The food is delicious. Chowder is amazing. Tables outside I think need new clothes.
Disfunctional & disgusting. Waited 30 minutes for 2 poached eggs. Scrambled eggs arrived but overcooked to be an omelette. No wonder the business is for sale. What staff were working sat at 'their' table smoking and some other guy doing live stream ona mobile phone which is a major privacy breach.oh an an extra side of bacon consists of 1 streaky rasher for $6.50. the sooner the place sells the better Akaroa will be
Perfect place for your breakfast. It was pretty nice to see a different type of bakery than here in NZ are. No fried food at all, finally. Delicious pastries close to the French one. I Recommend this place!
Perfect spot under the trees. Staff should remember always to keep cashier area tidy and uncluttered and always keep attention to tables being wiped and cleared promptly. This will ensure more five star experiences. I'm giving five stars for outside for the warm atmosphere with beautiful purple boanvillia flower. Inside, no more comment. Definitely the place to come on a beautiful day.
Sadly the pain au chocolat here were disappointing. They were quite dense, missing lots of beautiful buttery layers you come to expect in a croissant. However the staff were friendly and they had lots of other options in the cabinet to choose from.
Unfortunately pretty disappointing. Service and food were "OK". Lemon sugar crepe was good but took forever and arrived cold. Macarons were nice but were given to us on a dirty plate. Place is pretty desperate for some TLC!
