Ratatouille Restaurant Akaroa

Had a wonderful experience dining here for dinner lastnight. I ordered a starter of scallops which were cooked perfectly. The dish was very generous in size so felt the need to skip mains and go straight for dessert. My partner enjoyed a Beef Ragout which was also a very generous portion. Enjoyed every mouthful. We shared the Mix of Desserts which was served with deliciously hot espresso..exceptional service, lovely atmosphere with tasty food and good wine.

We thought it would be a quiet Tuesday night but booked a table at Ratatouille just in case. The place was near full when we arrived at 7pm! The service, food and background music were excellent making for a very pleasant dining experience. Will definitely return :

Delicious meal last night. Beef and the fish dish went down well with bottle of Zeppelin Shiraz. Key Pow! Finished off with the cheese, the blue was soft and tangy. Great attentive service, thank you.

Sorry, I could have cooked a better meal. No imagination whatsoever, just a template of piece of fish in the middle of the plate, a spoon of salad on the side and a blob of avocado mouse on the other. As for seasoning and taste, like I said, I could have done better. Recommended with caution. Hopefully if you go you might have a better experience. If you are a foodie you will understand.

This is a place that you would never want to come if you are hungry. You might need to be very very patient. You must be able spare something close to an hour of waiting for your main course if there are any other customers in the restaurant. We order our food, starter and main. The starter arrived soon enough, but then the staff just served starters of ALL other tables in the restaurant, 4 at the times. All of them came in after me. Just then, about 45 minutes later, the staff began serving my main courses. So, I don’t know that it’s just me or the place is so strange! When I asked the waitress, she said that’s the way the place doing things!!!

Part of a large group so service was a bit odd, we ordered our meals by filling out the menu with our name on top, which was fine but no offer of coffee after we'd eaten while those that were having dessert were still eating. Would be interesting to try it out as a small party.

After attempting to dine. sweating in the sauna at The Little Bistro, we abonadoned ship for Ratatouille across the road. Having been here several times before, we were confident of a pleasant experience. We are pleased to say it was once again with attentive friendly service, wonderful relaxed ambience with the music and courtyard dining, and good food. I have had the lamb and the steak both times cooked perfectly! Desserts were delicious. It's becoming one of our fav places to dine in Akaroa. Well done to the management and staff

Do not go there!! I can cook better then this and trust me Im not that great at cooking. Ordered stake for $40, was over cooked, cheap meat was probably bought for few bucks somewhere - definitely not fillet mignon Ive paid for. Potatoes were undercooked and hard as carrots. Might as well go to Mcdonalds, youll have a better experience.

Very disappointed, poor service, food was cold, restaurant was colder. Whole place was filled with smoke from the kitchen most of the evening. Took over an hour to receive our main after we finished our entree. Won’t recommend nor be back! Shame really cause it was quite a nice little restaurant!

Emailed a booking and received confirmation early afternoon. Very satisfying. Perfect service, topped with Wigram Brewery beer on tap - a perfection!
