Lovely view of the lake. Great food and portions. Loved the steak and lamb. Kids menu is a decent size and comes with a dessert. Service was good with check-ins from staff and prompt water refills. Free parking available.
Great place, food a bit pricey for what you get, however the view and service definitely make up for it. We had the pork tocino, house made bread and wagyu brisket and they were all very nice. Highly recommend the pork tocino if youre into spicy food.
Absolutely gorgeous food coupled with fantastic service, add the unbelievable panoramic views of the lake and mountains and you have a meal you won’t forget! Loved every minute.
2 people for dinner. we stayed at the Mercure.nWe received our complimentary house wine, they were okay. No complaints on comp drinks.nFor food we ordered 1 entree to share and 2 mains with a side greens salad.nThe entree was the char grilled prawns, it came with edamame beans and green beans. It looks really nice and the prawns were good, the beans could have had more flavour or a pinch more salt which we could have added I suppose, I usually prefer to eat the dish as the chef intended.nIn saying that I would get the prawn dish again as the prawns were cooked just right juicy and bit of a bite but tender.nThe mains were the salmon and the eye fillet medium rare.nThe salmon had a good crispy skin, it was cooked well. A bit boring flavour wise even though it came with a jus and a yuzu sauce options. I can't remember the name of the white sauce exactlynThe eye fillet came with the same sauce options. I had it with the yuzu sauce with it, it was nice. I don't think you can go wrong with eye fillet. It was cooked to my liking and the flavour as I expect.nThe side greens salad was average, I wouldn't order this again as I had some bad leaves in it. I think for a restaurant standard they should pick out the bad leaves, as I would at home. Other than that the flavour was nice.nWe ended it with a scoop of ice cream each. They put both together even though we ordered separately, which is fine as it was rectified by the waitress quickly. I ordered a shot of espresso and made mine into an affogato.nI think there is potential as the views are amazing.
We had an amazing meal last night at the South Eatery. It was so good we went back again tonight. My partner is a coeliac and the menu had a really good range of options. All meals were plated to perfection and were delicious, a special mention must go to the gluten free chocolate cake. The views were spectacular and the lovely young gentleman that waited on us both nights was both courteous and professional, a real asset to the restaurant. Eating at South Eatery was certainly a highlight for us while visiting Queenstown. Dino and Shirlee
