The food was great, considering the waiter did not ask how spicy we wanted our meals. He brought out our curries and they were super spicy. We waited on about 5 dishes of rice, which not all of them came, as the waiter was abit confused with orders. Also the wait time in food took 35 to 45 minutes as it was packed. The restaurant itself is very tiny and compact. They only really had one other wait staff running around. Was expecting more Malaysian dishes on the menu, but was more Indian.
One of the three top rated Malaysian restaurant. Decided to give it a try. As a Malaysian, I'll tell you what's all wrong about this restaurant. 1. Rice is sticky. Rice should be the easiest to cook, especially jasmine rice. For rice to be sticky like glutinous rice, what have you done to it? You can't even cook rice properly? Shameful. You fail miserably. Rice is our life. Our staple food. It's sticky, more sticky than my nose booger. You can even stick in at the back of your art for it to stick on the wall. 2.The manager with big belly never greeted us. Just asking if booking was made and busy clearing the table with a sad face. No greetings nothing. No thanks no good byes. There were 2 guys sitting on the table to be cleared, he also didn't alert them that he would clean the table. He just sprayed at the table when they were chatting. Even take away plates without asking if we are done. It's food for your customers. Don't touch them till they ask you too or at least, have the courtesy to ask. This is not the Malaysian hospitality. Please train this manager how to have top class service. 3.Sate is nothing to be compared with the real thing in Malaysia. Not even the peanut sauce. 4.Don't let me start with the curry where I can cook better at home. It was atrocious with cheap nzd 3.79 frozen mixed vegetable that you find in supermarket. Only difference is they put five spoonful of veg. Give me eat for free, I wouldn't even try it . 5.Who makes menu with black background, red color words, to be read under a dim light. Rather just dig out my eyes. This is my first time and last time visiting it. I see many leave good rating here, you all probably haven't tried the real good Malaysian food. What they have was rubbish. The only consolation is the very nice waitress that's at the counter and serving us food. She was courteous and friendly. Overall conclusion. Trash. This is not Malaysian food nor hospitality. Hire me to cook your rice.
Highly overrated. First visit this weekend at 11.30am Thursday morning sign on door said open, Manager refused to take order as sign inside restaruant said times open 11.45am to...?pm. Second visit..messed up order served prawns instead of ordered grilled fish. When error pointed out, very reluctantly asked whether we owanted the dish changed.....of course we wanted what we ordered and were willing to pay for!! Entrance door banged shut every time a guest walked in or out..obviously didn't care the door spring wasn't working as it should! So much for the ambiance!! Best was at end, refused to provide GST bill with listed items. Only provided eftpos receipt with GST number and said it was sufficient. Asked what receipt they would provide if paid cash..no proper reply. Guess they would rather pay IRD a fine than have a proper POS system..for obvious reasons! Surely IRD would be interested! Roti was nice and flaky, otherwise food highly oily! Signage said Malaysian food....seemed more confused Indian!! Last visit for sure!!!
Very loud unpleasant atmosphere. Rude waitress got our order wrong. Luckily the other waitress was lovely but our food arrived at different times. Food wasn’t bad but overall, wouldn’t return.
A little cramped. A great meal. Full of flavours. WOW! What an experience. Was full so ensure you book or are there early. Limited lunch menu, but an experience we all enjoyed.Food: 5/5
A delicious meal out mid week. Nasi Lemak with beef and Murtabak chicken were superb. The food and the friendly staff make this an absolute winner. It does get very noisy when it's full of people, so not so great for anyone with hearing loss/hearing aids as the ambient noise level is high. We were lucky to get a walk-in table without a booking due to a cancellation, but it's always pretty busy so suggest booking ahead of time, esp if there's more than two of you. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. Wheelchair accessibility: You'd need to let them know ahead of time, as this is a tiny space and it's jam-packed w tables. But if you chatted to them, they'd likely be able to accommodate.
First impressions was that it was a tight space, the decor was a bit random and the it was just really loud. I intended to get the main but they said you have to order rice separately kinda threw me off. So I ordered the bryani which I wouldn't even call it that and nasi lemak instead. The bryani was not good. The flavour was off and just not really a bryani. Nasi lemak was okay. Tbh I'd rather recommend people to go to little penang the food is just better and the price/value is as well.
We were cramped into a tiny spot that had the door opening and almost hitting our table and no leg space, It was very uncomfortable. The service was very average. Food was good.Food: 3/5
Very colorful eatery serving South Indian & Malaysian dishes in a cozy storefront space. The decoration are strongly symbolic of the exotic culture, which fits in the colorful Mutli cultural atmosphere of Wellington well.
Definitely not the best Malaysian restaurant in town but ok anyway. The portions are small and the biryani was a bit gluggy but the curry puffs were authentic and featured the spiral pastry!Food: 3/5
