Little India
"Jugnu Gill opened his first restaurant in 1997. Jugnu arrived in New Zealand from New Jersey, USA. In his working life he worked as a Systems Engineer in Information Technology for 2 large corporations. First in London and then in the USA. Jugnu has always had a passion for food and hospitality. His siblings, Dame Sukhinder Turner, Shammi Sandhu and brother Sukhmohan Sukhi Gill were already in Dunedin. Jugnu joined them in 1993.It was a natural progression for Jugnu to help his brother with his business. Jugnu opened a restaurant in Queenstown with his siblings. and then owned and operated a Bar and Night club in Dunedin! A desire to branch out on his own eventually led him to Wellington."

One of the hidden gems of New Zealand! Perhaps the only one if not few that serve food with authentic Indian taste. The portion size won’t impress anyone but the dishes taste lively and flavorful, akin to what 5 star restaurants in India would serve and even better with a hint of homemade food.
The worst biryani ever I had in my life. I ordered chicken biryani takeout. I the brilliant chef don't know his name He mixes some normal gravy with boiled chicken and rice together. I never feel like a biryani It looks like someone mixed the gravy all together in a pan even including the rice. There was no coriander leaves no mint leaves even there was no flavor at all for the biryani. I am a chef working for more than 13 years overseas. All day handling different nations worldwide. I never recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was my very bad dinner because it was not done properly and not what we thought from their advertising Sorry to write but I have to write because I am also a chef Guest feedbacks are a success for the kitchen and the restaurant. Keep going with good work and good food Thank you
That restaurant and staff were amazing two years ago but this time we dine in felt like no this is not the place, and the server’s knowledge make it hell when he could not tell us gluten free option. infact, he doesn't know what is gluten !! Food was super expensive we understand pricing are rising high and hard to keep it up with same stuff but it was bit too much , not good portion very small amount of main curries and even rice small bowl for 3 people and not good quality food. Big NO.
Delicious, friendly and fast, they went the extra mile and it was totally appreciated... Now I'm nursing a food baby though, I ate too much. HeheFood: 5/5
My favourite go to place for my fix of authentic Indian cuisines I love the tika masalas and the butter and the mango, korma, vegetarian. The staff are very friendly all around 5 stars oh and Byo wine only
We started with the street food. A dish we’d not heard of before, pani puri. Little dough parcels into which you poured this peppery, spiced liquid served in shot glasses. Delicious. This was followed by the much-mentioned goat curry on the bone! And the also mentioned butter chicken both shown. Bloody brilliant. I think this must be the best curry shop in Wellington. But I’m no expert. I recommend you try for yourself.
Awesome place, right in the heart of Cuba street. Paramjeet makes guest feel at home. Terrific food and lovely portion size.
The main dish Bruna Chicken I belive was very good, I don't like spicy food and asked without it, and it was actually mild, unlike most places where it still comes a bit spicy. That surprised me positively, first time having Indian food and approved. The rice is average at most almost gave 4 stars for that, but it is well served. The service is also very good, with friendly and helpful staff. Definitely recommend the place.
Great food. Such humble & welcoming service by the Manager Mr.Sartaj Singh. I wish this place more success and Countless customers.
Beyond amazing! Overall the restaurant has a very good vibe. Spacious, minimalistic and classy decor. Finally found authentic Indian style momos in NZ! I’ve been to so many restaurants and have always been disappointed. Everything we ordered was perfect and not too greasy as is the case with a lot of Indian places. The staff was also very professional and happy to assist. Would definitely recommend to any and everyone in Wellington :
