Clean room with a comfortable bed.nGreat that there is a small well equipped kitchenette with cooktop.nLocated in a quiet area that is a small distance away from the main shops area.nReasonable price for a night’s accommodation.
Away from main drag and just average overall. Suitable for us on a unexpected trip to Auckland. Room lacked Sky TV and when asked owner said he would have to charge a lot more. Strange indeed. In almost all places we’ve stayed over the years Sky has been available without noticing it breaking the bank.nI noted place was for sale so hopefully new franchise owners are a little more creative.
Single room was basically bed and toilet. There wasn’t any room for suitcase. The biggest thing is sealed windows. You can’t open a window in a place with the best and cleanest air in the world! Just moldy AC
Stayed here for two nights with a friend. Great location however the room wasn't as clean as you would expect. The shower needed a good scrub and there was what looked like pubic hair on the floor in the laundry area. A long tv and bed head was accumulated dust. As for the cooking facilities, had everything you needed but would have liked proper milk not creamed powder. The hallway also didn't have a pleasant smell both mornings. Unfortunate as other quest hotels I have stayed were immaculate.
Cons:-though myself I'm not disabled, I didn't see a lift to the upper floor.nThe disabled ramp to the front door could very easily and was obscured by an inconsiderate driver parking up.nThere was no chest of drawers for any clothes storage, just a few coat hangers in a small sliding wardrobe, we had to live out of a suitcase.nNor was there any sizeable place to store any foodstuffs for breakfasts etc in the kitchen area.nI didn't feel the room was serviced properly, certainly never replenished the hot drinks/sugar/milk, we even had to buy our own loo roll when we ran out.nThe bulbs in the bedside lamps wer wobbly an flickered.nOne of the electrical sockets came away from the wall when I pulled the plug out.nEntrance to the property was around the back, a bit awkward to step down and not very welcoming.nAir con was noisy and wasn't that cold, had to go full whack to keep the room cool enough.nWindows sealed, no fresh air available.nnPros:- Fairly quiet nights, no road noise though we had rooms overlooking the car park.nBed was pretty comfy.n10 mins walk to town, 5 mins to lake.nEven your own washing machine and tumble dryer if you fancy that tho prob have to buy your own detergents!nnWe paid around 2000NZD/£950GBP for 2 rooms for 3 nights. We have stayed in better places, cheaper, with morning meal included.nThe duty receptionist was friendly and helpful in putting our two rooms next to each other, also suggesting places in town to eat out.nnIt was just after new year we stayed, if it had have been a different time of year, we would have looked to stay elsewhere.
