Lakefront Lodge Taupo

The studio room we had could not have been any smaller! The bed only just fitted in. There was no outlook, the window facing another external wall. Obviously there was nowhere to sit in the room, other than on the bed. The adjacent restaurant, The Social Club, however, was superb and we had a lovely meal there. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Great location, right on the lakefront and a short 10 min easy walk into town. Good view of at least half of the lakenRooms, clean, had everything I needed, bigger than I initially thought they would be. Some interesting artwork and pot plants. Good TV - easy to use.nBiggest gripe is the internet speed - dismal with a good connectionnBooking in was good for me, but the person before me wanted to check out before 0800 - proved to be in the too hard basket and the staff member concerned would not even think about a solution - probably will stop me staying here again, as it was not a difficult request

Great value for money.nWe got an excellent off peak deal. Sure the room was small but that was made quite clear.nStaff were friendly and helpful.nThey have 2 EV chargers which are free for guests first arrived, first served. The lake is on the other side of the road.

Avoid booking this place if cleanliness matters to you.nnReally disappointing stay.nnThe first room had hair in the bed sheets. I went down to Reception and asked the female staff member if she could come up and check the room with me, but she wasn’t willing to and just offered another room instead.nnBecause of that, I checked the second room before unpacking — and found hair on the bed sheets again.nnI went back downstairs and again asked her to come up and inspect the rooms with me. She seemed quite reluctant and only came upstairs after I pushed for it. Once there, she confirmed both rooms had hair on the freshly made sheets.nnThey offered another room again, but by then I’d completely lost confidence in the cleanliness standards of the place, so I asked for a refund instead.nnTo be fair, they did refund me, but overall it was a really poor experience, especially late at night when all I wanted was a clean room and some sleep.nnThe hygiene was below standard, and the customer service felt very passive. Didn’t feel like there was much effort to properly resolve the issue.nnWouldn’t stay here again.

The staff were very tired from long shifts, but tried very hard and we're very welcoming excellent job Chivany, you made out stay great. The rooms were clean, but the bathroom smelt damp. Rooms were very hot, so we grateful for the fans. A bit noisy as the restaurant was basically next door, but they weren't noisy very late. The wifi was so slow that I ended up using my own data.
