Poenamo Hotel

Not 100% my thing. A bit too close to the road, there was a race party next door and the pool is shared with a kebab house, pub and a coffee shop. Your back of house area is actually public accessible to all people. A strange concept. It was probably a good place 50 years ago. I can't recommend it as it is run at the moment.Rooms: 3/5

We stayed in one of the newer 2 bedroom apartments which was excellent. Nice amenities, cleanliness, and front desk staff were all great too. Location is great too. Definitely be back for one of these again next time!

This is difficult to review fairly as the apartments are brand new and awesome but the hotel rooms are marginal at best. The latter have cramped but tidy bedrooms, poor kitchenettes, and very old bathrooms. A very mixed bag.Rooms: 2/5

Studio 1 bed room with kitchen and patio very private. Bedroom small but comfortable. It's in a new building so everything is new and clean with secure parking. I strongly recommend that best place to stay convenient for gas stations, burgers king, park n save and easy to exit motoway to south Auckland or northRooms: 5/5

Have been there 3 times now. Hotel is located just 10 minutes outside Auckland CBD. Many restaurants on walking distance. Shower needed some maintenance. Rusty screws sticking out of wall and door not shutting down properly causing flooding unless lifted with force. Food & drinks: Restaurants on walking distance.

READ BEFORE YOU BOOK If you’re going to stay here go for the apartments. The other rooms poolside etc are unclean, old and area smells weird. The pictures they show sends a different message as to what the rooms actually are. For 3 people we had to booked for an apartment and a poolside studio. All 3 of us ended up sleeping in the apartments. We also booked both for 4 nights. Canceled the pside room on the second day, and guess what they had no refunds AND you don’t get your bond back. Waste of money and time to get a room that isn’t the apartments.

My kids loved it. One said "pretty good, pretty good" Clean room, comfy beds, very welcoming. Wish we could've stayed longer

I stayed for 3 nights. On the 3rd night there was a problem with the electrical system in the hotel, and there was no power for a few hours in the evening. In the morning there was no hot water. I was promised a refund for the last night for the inconvenience. They wouldn't give me the refund in the morning I left. I chased it up over the next 2 months, and they stopped answering my emails. I never got the refund.

The room was smelly and the carpet was grimey that I was scared to stand on it. My experience in the shower was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. The shower head had to be held constantly or else it would spazzam around and it soaked all my clothes in the bathroom. There was mould and a left over slimy razor from past visitor. There’s a bar right out side the hotel so it was so loud all night. Tv was bad quality and the wifi was absolutely horrific, one bar at best. The pillow was bad. I woke up with a broken spine. My sister goes to get some ice cubes and what she finds is a absolutely horrific bio hazard. Someone thought it would be funny to place something absolutely vulgar into the ice tray and leave it in the fridge. Of course the hotel didn’t remove it before we arrived. When I think about this place I want to cry. I guess it’s cheap for a few beds but now I am mentally disturbed.

Stayed for 1 night booked 2 rooms both rooms I cleaned myself they were disgusting asked for money back so we could stay somewhere else and we were told no and that they couldnt do anything until the next morning how ever we were given some spray and wipe to clean the room ourselves. When we spoke to someone in the morning we were told the manager would contact us didnt hear from anyone i tried to call a couple of weeks later and was told manager was on holiday but we were offered $40 off each room we still havent received anything even after multiple calls. I would definitely not recommend nor will i stay again
