Manaia Seafood Boil

The experience was nice, but I mainly went for the food. The seafood was cooked from frozen I supposed, as the texture and taste just didn’t add up. In particular, the crawfish and crab tasted…crap. To be fair they never said it’s fresh seafood but for the price I paid, I would expect it to be cooked fresh.

Wow! I am at a loss for words to describe the seafood we tried. If you are a seafood lover, this is definitely a must-try. Since we made a spontaneous decision to go there, a table was not available, so we opted for takeaway. We will certainly make a reservation in advance and look forward to savoring the flavors in a more leisurely setting.

Got the 'bundle bag' plus add-ons of rice and one lobster tail tonight. I was quite excited upon removing the foil as it smelt really nice. However, that excitement was replaced with disappointment as the lobster tail was mostly just a shell refer to pic. The presentation was great as the tail was 'shell up' before it was turned over. Extremely overcooked, basically cooked the meat off. Sauce smelt nice but tasted average Some of the clams had no meat just pretty empty shells I would have returned it but we live a fair distance away, plus it's cold and the shop would have closed by the time we got there. Tonight's meal was not worth the money that was spent For that amount of money, I would've expected to have all the meat in the lobster tail...at least!

Our daughter had been excited the whole week after we told her of our reservations and it was our first time as well to ever try a seafood boil. We ordered the large platter plus wings for me as I do not eat any other seafood except fish. From the looks on my husband and daughters face they enjoyed every bite from the platter. Loved the sauce. I had ordered wings but got nibbles . Our coke was warm as we were told they had just restocked the fridge. The crispy fries were too soft probably taken out too quick and the kumara fries were burnt. The service was great, however, the ladies looked abit tired as it was hard to get smiles from them. I had to ask several times for our juice.nOverall I would have to say - the food platter + wings was delicious and we would definitely be back for more!
