We were visiting from Queensland, Australia and decided to have dinner at The Lone Star in Invercargill. Wow - one of the best meal I’ve had in New Zealand. Definitely the best garlic bread ever. Large loaf with plenty of buttery garlic. The fish and chips was delicious and very filling. Yummy salad too. Libby, our waitress was such a joy and extremely helpful when I asked about the fish. Highly recommended.
We were greeted and seated but a lovely server that provides colouring pens and paper for our child. We had a different server for the evening after and she was absolutely brilliant. The food was delicious, on time, and I have coeliac and had absolutely no problems with my meal.nnMy fave was the crispy squid starter. Yum!nThe dark and white chocolate Sunday was boring, probably wouldn't order that again. My partner had the affogato and he said It was the best dessert in years. Will definitely try that next time.
Our Whānau of 6 had a wonderful meal. Ordered online and everything was ready to devour on our arrival, cooked to perfection.nnThe Cadillac platter had a great variety and our daughters loved their dishes.nGenerous portions and the JD dessert was delicious!nnThank you Lone Star Team for making it extra special putting a candle on Hubby's dessert for his birthday.nnIt was all executed better than I requested and your service from start to finish was warming, welcoming and professional.nnSee you all for our next birthday celebration
We visited last night for our sons 18th birthday, I had mentioned this in the booking and expected there might be some mention of it for him. We ordered drinks for a table of 10 which had to be chased up after 30 minutes and a beer was forgotten about but had been paid for separately this was for the birthday boy, and had to be chased up. After an hour of waiting we recieved our meals, the Dixie chicken was bland but a good portion size and looked nice. My partner ordered steak which was cold when it arrived and the garlic butter wouldn't even melt on it. We ordered dessert thinking at least they might be quick but again there was a delay with these. The cheesecake was pretty average unfortunately but the chocolate pudding was nice. The staff were lovely and did appear to be doing their best but also seemed to lack communication between staff which is where some delays may have come from? Its disappointing because my son chose this as a venue for his birthday and I feel like we let him down especially after just celebrating my other son's 21st at another restaurant where they went absolutely above and beyond.
We went to this restaurant and absolutely loved it! The food was amazing, and the staff was incredibly nice, helpful, and welcoming. We appreciated how they offered different sauce flavours to try and made our visit very enjoyable. Would highly recommend to anyone traveling in the area
