Hatfield Beach Reserve

Very quiet beach compared to Orewa. Normally a few freedom campers there. The trees at the back of the beach provide good shade in the afternoonnThe water is very shallow and is best at high tide.

Small freedom camping spots with loads of potholes meters away from the main road. Huge trees on every plot, which are lovely unless you need to charge your solar. Seems to be popular with the homeless.

Enchanting beach with park, unfortunately sliced in two by the road. The park is spacious and grassy, but is swampy after rain. Basic facilities here. The beach foreshore has picnic tables but not much else. The 981 bus to/from Waiwera stops here. The beach is most pleasant and great for kids of all ages. There's a stream at the northern end and rock outcrops, great for exploring, on the south. Much quieter than Ōrewa.

Good place alongside main highway for a rest stop launch you're boat or camp self contained overnight toilets located across the road as well as walk track and large grasses field to spot the birdlife great place early morning sunrise to get a photograph of vista across the hauraki gulf 6mins to orewa township.

This place is perhaps better than the Orewa Beach Lookout few hundred metres away. On the beach side, it has a small parking area by the Hatfield beach with couples of picnic tables, the toilet is available across the road, on the park side. Nice beach, big park.
