Very nice and beautifully maintained reserve, almost hidden from the main road.nThe entrance is via old north road, orewa.nThe Kauri trees present here are a marvel and a wonder in themselves.nTo look at the 800 years old kauri tree is to literally transport oneself into the past and imagining how things would have been when this tree was younger.nThe walk is well maintained with raised boardwalks and stairs too.nThere are longer walks in the reserve, but the main one is approx 25 mins loop.nVery easily accessible by road and some on street parking spaces are available ahead on the road.nA must visit for any nature enthusiast and anyone looking to get some peace from the busy city life.
A beautiful quick walk in the bush! There are many steps to climb so not recommended if you're not good with stairs. The terrains vary across the walk - decked paths, stone paving and mud.
Nearly a stones throw from the centre of Orewa Town centre you will find this small historic forest. The only downside side is that there is a massive development of apartments on one side of this picturesque forest.
Well maintained board walk and more would be built. Beautiful kauri and kauri palm trees everywhere. 3 access to the reserve. The path could lead to longer walk towards the west. Would love to explore more one day.
So beautiful... Due to Kauri Dieback only 2 entrances are open and you have to brush and disinfect your shoes before entering or exiting. Also, the lookout track is closed but the loop track remains open/the path from entrance to other entrance hillcrest rd to old north rd. Stay on the path/boardwalk to save the Kauri.
