This is one of the top restaurants I’ve visited in Hamilton. The staff are friendly, and although the food is priced on the higher side, the quality justifies the cost. However, I found the sirloin steak to be overly salty and peppery, even though I don’t usually prefer bland food. Personally, while the steak portion was generous, it didn’t meet the high standards set by the other dishes. The other dishes were truly perfect and delicious! Next time I visit, I’ll likely skip the steak.
The prawn and scallop tortellini was my favourite dish. The crayfish bisque beneath it was delicious. It had a great atmosphere too, I'm looking forward to visiting them again to try the rest of the menu.
You will never eat a polenta like theirs. What a delicious one! Crispy on the outside which is common everywhere but inside was so soft, it melted every bite. Keep in mind also that some items in the menu change slightly, but the base is the same.
Gothenburg Restaurant is an absolute gem that continues to set the bar high for dining experiences. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed into a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed yet refined evening. The combination of elegant décor, soft ambient lighting, and a lively yet intimate setting made for a fantastic dining experience.nnNow, let’s talk about the food—because wow, every dish was a showstopper! We started with the seared beef tataki, which was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The tender slices of beef were perfectly complemented by the crunchy fried shallots, tangy pickled vegetables, and a deliciously balanced sauce that brought everything together. Each bite was packed with texture and umami goodness!nnNext came the slow-cooked lamb ribs, and they were nothing short of phenomenal. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, coated in a rich, flavorful glaze that had just the right amount of sweetness and spice. The addition of fresh red onions and red chili gave it an extra layer of depth, while the lemon wedge on the side provided a refreshing contrast. This dish was a definite highlight!nnAnd of course, we couldn’t pass up the dumplings, which were absolutely divine. The delicate, handmade parcels were drenched in a bold and aromatic sauce that had a perfect balance of spice and savoriness. The fresh microgreens on top added a pop of freshness, making each bite a delightful experience.nnBeyond the incredible food, the service was top-notch. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed without being intrusive. They were more than happy to provide recommendations, which made the experience even more enjoyable.nnGothenburg is truly a must-visit for anyone in Hamilton looking for a top-tier dining experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, having a casual dinner, or just in the mood to indulge, this restaurant delivers every single time. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!
Really enjoyed dinner here, wish I came hungrier if I’m being honest. Everything on the menu looked amazing. I LIVE for tapas so this was exactly my kind of vibe. Great open space with additional outdoor seating 3 steps away from the river. You have to know it’s here though because the signage not too great but honestly I forgive them for that because everything was amazing. Started with a cosmopolitan and raspberry mojito for hubby. Love when cocktails give you a buzz without being too alcoholy, these were great. The cheese plate was fun, we had the Brie and the Gouda. Then came the beef tataki which was phenomenal, followed by the prawn and scallop tortellini that I could eat a whole bucket of. Top it off with a blueberry coconut milk based panacotta which was perfectly light and not overly sweet. The staff was great, very nice and helpful. I really wanted to try the crudo but sadly we came late and they were already sold out. That says something though. Love the concept of this place. You think tapas so Spanish…but that’s only 1/2 right. The owner is 1/2 Spanish 1/2 Swedish, which you only get from the name of the restaurant and the wall of Swedish things adjacent the bathrooms. That threw me for a loop so I asked the server about it and she explained about the owner, and yet the head chef is a Kiwi and the other chefs are primarily Asian. What a concept. Really liked this place a lot!
