We’ve been loyal customers of YJ Takeaways for life — honestly, it feels like well over 10 years now. I still clearly remember back in 2016 when my wife was pregnant and we were constantly craving their chicken pieces. That’s how far back our history with this place goes.nnOver time, we didn’t just keep coming back ourselves — we actively recommended YJ Takeaways, especially within the Filipino community. For years, this place was the go-to when someone was hosting a party. Many of our friends would buy trays of chicken pieces directly from here for birthdays, gatherings, and celebrations. There was even a time at a Filipino party in St Columba’s where we were surprised to see at least three different Filipino families bring chicken pieces from YJ — that’s how strong the word-of-mouth was.nnThe food itself has always been simple and straightforward. It’s not fine dining and doesn’t try to be. Dishes like their Manila-style stir-fried Thai noodles are nothing fancy, but filling and decent for the price. Overall, it used to be great value for money.nnWhat truly kept us loyal, though, were the chicken pieces. Back in the early years especially around 2016, they were excellent value — generous portions with plenty of meat. If you wanted fried chicken without paying premium prices, this was the place.nnUnfortunately, in recent times, we’ve noticed a consistent decline. Even though we still buy chicken pieces often, around 75–85% of what we receive now feels like bone, with very little actual meat. It’s reached a point where it no longer feels worth the price, especially when compared to how it used to be.nnWe genuinely want to give YJ Takeaways a higher rating because of our long history and loyalty. However, due to this ongoing issue, we feel we have to be honest and give a lower rating for now.nAnd to fellow Filipinos reading this: if you’re planning to buy the chicken pieces, be aware that you may notice a very high bone-to-meat ratio — enough to make you question the value.nnWe really hope this changes, because YJ Takeaways has been a staple in our community for many years, and we’d love to keep recommending and supporting them again.

Compared to most places now, I think this is good value - 4 hotdogs, 1 crabstick & $4 chips all for $10 - cooked well and tasty - Thank you !

Amazing little takeaway shop. Bought burgers, fish n chips, garlic prawns with noodles and fried rice. Value for money, lots of flavour, decent portions. Would've liked my garlic prawn dish with less soup/juice but I still enjoyed it. Shop front signage could do with an upgrade. Would definitely return here again. Thanks YJ takeaways.

Low quality, but VERY good value. As of writing this, you can get a $13 pack that contains 4 fish, 2 battered hotdogs, and $2 chips. For only $13. In this economy? Hell yes.
