Briscoes Wairau Park

I went into this customer service hellscape of a store today to buy a can opener that was advertised at a 50% discount, with a special price of $4. However, the staff tried to charge me the full price—double the advertised amount. I asked to speak to the manager and was referred to an elderly Asian woman who refused to allow me to purchase the item at the advertised discounted price. I told her I would not pay more than the advertised price and left.nnLater in the day, I went to Wairau Pak’nSave, where, with the help of friendly staff, I was guided to the exact same model can opener—only the deluxe version, with attractive added plastic grips—for the everyday price of $4.89, which I gladly paid due to the superior quality and service.

Terrible customer service. We had an issue with our gift card, and the staff simply told us to call customer service ourselves instead of offering any help. Their attitude was poor and not friendly at all. We’ll try to resolve the gift card issue on our own, but we’ll definitely go to another store in the future, even if it’s further away.

I love Briscoes. Can virtually always find what I need, often on a surprise discount. Staff are competent and know their way around. Almost always friendly and always polite. I felt inspired to write a review today by the extremely nice woman on checkout.

Sale! Sale! Sale!nBut that is it, don't go there unless there is a sale. I will say, the mattress protector and topper were the best investment so far. Would recommend for new mattresses.
