This was my second stay at the W Hotel and it’s becoming my favourite place for a a vacation.nnFirstly I have to say that a business is only as good as its people and the staff I’ve had encounters with at The W have all been amazing.nnI have to name three specifically- Kitty who I encountered on my first stay at check in whose just all kinds of outgoing, eager to please and just awesome - when she told me on my first stay my room had been upgraded I had the biggest smile. And on checkout on my second stay today- roughly a month after the first stay!, she remembered me and helped me with a quick checkout process.nnSecond person I have to mention is Barbra in Lollo the Italian restaurant which also has the breakfast buffet- when I showed up to breakfast today she remembered me and welcomed me back like an old friend/ she even thought it was my birthday as I told her on my last trip I was going to come back then but I couldn’t stay away!!.nnThirdly but not last is Kevin on reception- again he was soo friendly and informed me of another room upgrade talk about being spoiled!, as well as asking if I would like a late check out. It’s the small things like those the make the staff awesome even the room service staff were amazing.nnIn terms of the rooms/building itself- it’s hard to explain how awesome this place is. Yes it’s five star but it’s a different approach from places like Crown- the concierge is known as whatever/whenever, reception is known as the living room, the pool deck is WET and the gym as FIT. While it sounds pretentious it simply isn’t- hallways are in a muted dark grey tones, the lift loft lobby areas in a rich vibrant schemes of bright colours. It simply works- the inspiration is from its location this case being Melbourne and it’s laneways- it shows because as a Melbournian it just feels right.nnRoom wise I’ve been upgraded on both stays to a standard room booked into a cosy- cosy could describe the rooms because the rooms have three levels of lighting, a handy light night feature in the bathroom, a funky wardrobe to store your luggage see picture and a ensuite the contains shower and bath the bath is roomy; you can enjoy the bath wit the complimentary bath salts you are given.nnOne of the jewels to W Melbourne is WET- the aforementioned pool deck. The pool is quite big and is one 24/7 with it being reserved for over 26s from 1900 to 0600 the next day.nnOverall if you can afford it this is an amazing place to stay in a central location in the Melbourne CBD and little outside noise.
This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are clean, well appointed, and comfortable. What really set this hotel apart for me, was the staff. They were all very friendly, helpful and super accommodating. It seemed they went out of their way to address any requests or issues I had and also they were addressed quickly. I would definitely recommend the W Melbourne, and I plan on staying here again. Special thanks to Margo and her staff.
Service was good. The team acknowledged our wedding anniversary on our second day with an unexpected surprise, which was just as well, as the woman at the check-in counter was not particularly warm or welcoming when we arrived.nThe Whatever/Whenever service was excellent although a little slow, but friendly and accommodating.nLove the interior design - moody and sophisticated, and we loved the 24 hour indoor pool area. But something is missing - it doesn't quite feel like a 5-star experience.nMaintenance and cleanliness were a bit slap-dash - the smart toilet in our room did not work. There were scuffs and little pockets of dust in the corners. The bins weren't lined and the bottoms were a bit dirty. The bathroom was extremely dark no good for doing makeup! and one the towels were worn - one even had holes in it literally worn out.nWe also noticed mould around the pool! Ick.nWe had a good time, but probably wouldn't rush back.
I contacted the hotel this morning regarding a two-night booking I had recently made. Shortly after confirming the reservation, I received an email advising that an additional pet fee of $150 per night would be applied at check-in.nnI was informed that this fee covers additional cleaning and includes a pet package. I completely understand the need for policies around pets; however, I asked whether the fee could be reviewed, as it seemed excessive given the circumstances. I also suggested that if a flat fee could be applied for the entire stay, I would be happy to forgo room service on the second day and would not require the pet package for the second night.nnFor context, my pet weighs only 5kg, is well trained, and would have been accompanying me outside the hotel for most of the day. The staff were very polite and apologetic but advised that the fee is strictly in line with hotel policy.nnWhile I respect the need to follow policy, I believe customer service sometimes requires flexibility and consideration of what is reasonable. In this case, an additional $300 in pet fees on top of an already $1,190 booking for two nights did not feel proportionate.nnAs a result, I unfortunately ended up cancelling the booking altogether. This has resulted in a loss of $1,340, while the room will most likely remain empty.nnI wanted to share this feedback in the hope it can be considered going forward, and I would appreciate it if the matter could be reviewed.nnThank you for your time and understanding.
Stayed at W Melbourne over Christmas with my puppy and had a wonderful experience.nnThe hotel is luxurious and beautifully designed, with moody lighting and excellent blackout curtains that let us sleep in and enjoy breakfast at 1pm. The rooms are spacious, elegant, and spotless, and I never once had to worry about my young dog getting into anything he shouldn’t — which made the stay feel relaxed and effortless.nnThe staff were outstanding — accommodating, thoughtful, and genuinely kind, especially during the busy Christmas period. In-room dining was a highlight, with breakfast available beyond standard hours and flexibility like combining platters without hesitation.nnThe dog welcome package was such a lovely touch — a curated box of gifts, new toys, and a perfectly sized bed he adored. Being able to explore the gardens and city together added to the experience.nnOne small note for future stays: housekeeping briefly entered without announcing on a second visit, which startled my pup and the staff member. This was handled calmly and resolved straight away. As a suggestion, it may help if staff who are uncomfortable around dogs avoid servicing the PAWs Pets All Welcome level, or ensure pets are secured before entry — something I would have happily done had I known.nnExcellent mini bar, and the Whatever / Whenever service truly lives up to its name.nnWould happily return — puppy included.
