Okay, where do I start.nnFirstly, overall we enjoyed our stay. However, for what is billed as a 5 Star hotel, we had some expectations and on reflection, they probably weren't met.nnThe arrival was fine, but all 3 of our requests after completing the online check in were not only not known, but not fulfilled. We had to ask twice and when our room was made available 2 hours after we had requested they couldn't find our passes and it felt like we were just given the next option, which is probably why our requests didn't flow through.nnOn inspection of the room, it was lovely, but it didn't take long to notice that the cleanliness was lacking. Fingerprints on glass doors, floors not properly vacuumed. One of the sinks was blocked, block out blinds damaged and so don't quite meet, etc. etc. Not anything critical but if you're paying $700+ a night, and it's 5 star, then you expect that these things are inspected and attended to. Remember, at this level, it's the small things that guests remember.nnBreakfast was okay, apart from having to wait 10+ minutes to be shown through, food nothing to write home about but the fresh omelette was a highlight. Also, credit to the room service as the steak my wife had on our second night, while expensive was cooked to perfection.nnFinally, the check out was smooth and uneventful. Porter / Valet service was great.nnIt looks like if you want that unforgettable hotel experience these days, then you need to seek out a 7 Star hotel. While The W was probably a 5 Star hotel when it opened, it would likely struggle to get a 4 now.
Earlier this month, I stayed here with my partner to celebrate our anniversary, and I can't say enough about how stunning the rooms are – the theme is incredible. Out of all the five-star hotels I've stayed at in Melbourne, this is the only one with a high-tech toilet. I mentioned in my reservation that we were staying to celebrate anniversary, and the front desk gave us a welcome drink for two, which we enjoyed at their Curious Bar. Maddie, the concierge, even sent us a bottle of champagne and a card – such a thoughtful gesture. The pool is luxurious, heated, and the gym is well-equipped. This was my second time staying at this hotel, and both experiences have been fantastic. No wonder I chose to stay again for this special occasion, and I’ll definitely return. It really did stick to my mind, the experience!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at W. The hotel and room decoration is great. The pool area with a bar and steam room was excellent, especially at night when all lights were on. The breakfast buffet has everything you might want. Room service had a choice of 3 soups which I have never experienced in other hotels. Most importantly the service was great and fast. We will come back and definitely try W in other countries.
Loved this hotel! It was in a great location, conveniently located near Flinders Street and also a block or two away from the nearest metro station which is free within the city centre. We stayed in February 2024 and got upgraded to a suite - loved the Toto so much! The room was spacious, clean and modern. We also had in room dining which was very good and came quicker than we expected. The bathroom amenities felt luxurious and I loved the scent.nnWe had daily breakfast which had plenty of options for both vegans and vegetarians, as well as those without dietary requirements, and the food was of a high quality.nnWould definitely recommend.
I've been a Marriott Bonvoy member for a while, but this was my first stay at the W—and it was fantastic! I would absolutely recommend it and look forward to returning. I was upgraded to a King-sized room, which made for the best night's sleep I've had in a long time—huge thanks to the front desk for that! Now for the details:nnRoom & Hotel:nThe decor is modern, quirky, and high-tech—very distinct from other Marriott properties. Some standout features in the room include adjustable lighting, convenient night lights, a good-quality iron and steamer, a fully stocked mini bar with a wide & fun selection of items, and a luxurious Japanese toilet with seat warmers a blessing during Melbourne winters. The deep bath, great shower, and decent body products were also appreciated. The TV had a good range of channels, including international news, and the bed was incredibly comfortable with thick sheets and extra memory foam pillows in the closet. Overall, the hotel was spotless.nnAmenities:nThe 24-hour gym was impressive, offering a great variety of equipment. The indoor heated pool, also open 24 hours, provided a lovely view and a relaxing experience.nnService:nThe staff at the W are top-notch. From unloading my car to check-in and breakfast service, everyone was attentive, friendly, and generous. The buffet breakfast had a decent spread. Plus, the crockery was fun and added a playful touch.nnLocation:nSituated right in the CBD, the location is perfect for exploring. It's very walkable, with tram stops nearby for easy, free rides around the city center.nnSorry the photos are a little dark but loved the low lighting!
