Really nice stay. Check-in staff were wonderful, helpful and fast. The valet service and self-parking were both great. The room was older but clean and comfortable.nThe only thing that was slightly annoying was no power outlets next to the bed. Not a big issue though.
A genuine 3 star box with minimal space, clean, nice bed, hardly room to swing a cat. But, you get what you pay for, and apart from the totally inconvenient car parking, value for money by comparison with alternatives. Staff very courteous. Single entry exit car park is both inconvenient at $25 per entry, and why we won't be staying here again!
The only reason this doesn't have a rating of 1 is because the staff were very friendly and lovely.nnThe hotel itself is nice, rooms could be a bit nicer, but all good. I was there because the convention I was going to was in the attached Pullman convention centre.nnThe weather was very hot that weekend. 38 degrees + and the air conditioning did not work in my room. It was completely unbearable and i had to sleep with a damp towel to try and get any sleep whatsoever. I went to the front desk twice to complain about the aircon.nnI don't make complaints generally. I just suffer through it and then don't go back if I'm not happy with my stay. This was unbearable though and with multiple nights there, I had no choice. My room was so unbearably hot, I just could not sleep. This needs to be dealt with or you need to reduce your prices and star rating.
I was really disappointed with my experience at the Mercure, and I'm not in a rush to come back.nI had called earlier in the day before arrival to say I would be arriving by around 4pm, but my partner would arrive between 3-3:30pm, and I would like him to be able to check in to the room before me. Hotel person said that would be fine, and didn't tell me that although I have guaranteed the room with my credit card and done the online check in, as the room was going to be paid by me upon arrival, they made him wait for 60 minutes, until I arrived. No-one called to say, can we charge your credit card, and had i known this when I spoke to the operator in the morning, I would have paid it then and there.nnThen, I was given the keys. I made my way up to the room only defined that one of the keys was not activated, I would not work in the lift or in the room.nnI was very much disappointed to see that the room we had booked, looked really bare. It looked stark and all the walls were bare, making it not feel very welcoming.nnOne thing I found infuriating, was that on either side of the bed there was no PowerPoint. There was nowhere that we could plug in our charges for our phones so that they could be used as alarms in the morning. There was no alarm clock to tell the time. And really the only place that I could plug stuff in, was in the bathroom or by accessing a small power board that has been shoved down between the desk and the wall and was really hard to get to.nnI also used the $25 Parking, however I found it appalling that every time I needed to move my car out to attend meetings or functions. I was going to be charged $25 per exit.nnThe bathroom was also a little frustrating having a shower over the bath, but any time going in there I had to have the fan on as it is connected to the same one switch that operates the lights. So as my partner and I were trying to get ready we cannot communicate to each other, easily because of the deafening sound of the fan that had to be on just so that we could be in that bathroom.nnThe one thing that was nice was there was a lovely fruit bowl and a welcome card for me on the coffee table when I got into the room which is probably part of my accor membership level.nnI would say that the thing that annoyed me the most was the lack of PowerPoints. what Hotel does not have PowerPoint for people to plug their equipment or laptops or phones into? Hotel room doesn't have a clock?nnI've stayed at lots of different hotels over the last 10 years, and my experience at this one would have to be the most disappointing and frustrating.
We always feel welcomed when we arrive at Accor properties. On this occasion we just need a simple room, a comfortable bed and easy access to the city. We opted for the Mercure, Albert Park which shares some facilities with the adjoining Pullman. Our friendly, efficient check-in was followed by a quick dip in the beautiful heated pool and spa before heading out for the evening. Before retiring we enjoyed a complimentary welcoming drink, thanks to our ALL membership. Our room had everything we needed and was a good size with a king sized bed that was very comfortable. There were a few minor maintenance issues that would improve its appearance, but it worked well and was very good value for the price.
