Awesome experience, stayed with a friend for a girls trip everything was lovely!!nThe rooms were perfect especially if you aren’t too fussed with the view!! All the amenities were great and the hotel is perfectly situated with all types of things to do around!nRooms where practically sound proof couldn’t hear anything around us, which allowed for perfect sleep the beds were also comfortable with a good amount of pillows! Their service is wonderful, we asked for 2 blankets to be sent up and they delivered! Would highly recommend!!
Beautiful Hotel, But Missing the BasicsnnStayed here for Mother’s Day weekend. The hotel is beautiful—modern design, great atmosphere, and a lovely setting that feels special. First impressions were great, and the facilities look impressive.nnHowever, for a hotel of this standard, a few key details really missed the mark. There was no minibar in the room, and the late-night room service menu didn’t even offer basic drinks like water. On Saturday night, by 10 PM, most options were already unavailable. The bar downstairs also closed at 10 PM—which was a letdown for a weekend stay.nnValet parking was confusing, with no clear instructions or signage, and very limited space in front of the hotel. It made arrival a bit stressful.nnIn-room amenities were lacking—no robes, no slippers, and no proper toiletries beyond basic shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Small things, but they do matter.nnThe pool area looks amazing, but unfortunately there was no staff around, which meant kids were cannonballing and splashing freely—great for them, but not ideal for guests hoping to relax.nnOverall, a lovely property with lots of potential, but it’s missing the attention to detail that would make it a truly standout experience.
Just finished a 2 night getaway at the Dorsett. This hotel is in a great location in the city, the train stations are easily accessible and there’s lots of places to visit and grab a bite to eat.nnFirst impressions were great, as you walk on the lobby there is a really nice scent throughout. All the furnishings feel luxurious. There is a self check in stand which seemed cool to use, unfortunately the room cards weren’t working so we had to get the staff at reception to do for us, a bit unfortunate.nnBreakfast is $30pp of pre booked on arrival and $39pp if not booked. The breakfast was nice however not too many staff for how busy it was in the morning at around 9am. The coffee machine needed to be emptied and no staff noticed, which caused a queue waiting for someone to fix, until we asked for help. I tried some scramble eggs and they were ok, nothing exceptional.nnThere is a gym and swimming pool on the upper floors, I haven’t used them but had walked around and they look nice, the gym equipment is the same as my local gym which is nice.nnThe service I would say is ok. Upon checking out the guy at reception helped us but there was no warm friendly service like thanking us for staying there etc. This would have made a difference.nnOverall a great stay but the lack of service makes me want to explore other options next time.
My stay at the Dorsett was very pleasant. Great hotel, clean and very comfortable. All the fittings were stunning. facilities including the gym and pool were fantastic and clean. Service was fantastic and attentive. Coffee machine in the room were great! Had a great stay. Honestly not sure why this place has been slammed on reviews, because my experience only showed positives. Only negative is that the pillows arent very comfortable. Everything else was perfect.
Stay elsewhere. Hotel is 2 years old but could be mistaken for missing a 0.nnThe hotel has a price match guarantee but refuses to disclose that this is only for partner websites of the hotel. Therefore upon finding a cheaper price I was told that they’re not a partner booking website so it wasn’t applicable although they don’t disclose what these partner websites are.nnMy booking included 2 drinks per room which I had to ask for specifically wasn’t given on check in. The sparkling wine that I got served was flat and too sweet.nnThere was quite a lot of construction outside which was so loud it woke me up in the morning after a big night.nnFound a hair in the bed which makes me question the hygiene of the hotel. Lobby bathroom was also dirty and not well maintained. The room had dust along the windowsills which wasn’t great for my allergies. The buffet area is one of the nicer parts of the hotel but the food was in line with the rest of the hotel: cold, dated and average.nnShower was cold wouldn’t heat up beyond lukewarm when I tried 3 times and the water pressure was not good at all.nnRecommend staying at The Next, Standard X or Melbourne Place which I’ve stayed at around the $200-$300 mark with much better service, rooms, location and overall experience.
