This was our first time visiting Valentino's. This was our second choice of places to eat tonight as the other place we were heading too was closed. A good selection of Italian offerings to be had and the portion was very generous and flavourful. The reason for 4 stars would be the decor. The restaurant seems a little tired and could use freshing up. It seems to be original from the time of first opening. In saying that though, I would certainly recommend this restaurant for a wholesome value for your money meal.

Service was lacking. Mains which we ordered came with just meat with a bit of mushrooms on top...while the lamb was more of an entree' size. The kids menu had chicken nuggets and brownie which was just out of a packet. The three mains was supposed to have a side of fries which we got as a single bowl to share between 3 adults. Just when we thought we had enough of the experience and wanted to leave...we had to wait for a while just for the bill.The wait staff walked around us not even acknowledging us. On a positive note the steak that my partner and I had was amazing.

Our food here this evening was some of the best we have had. Foccacia to start and two amazing pasta dishes to follow. We were able to ask for alterations to suit dietary needs without any problems. Excellent service!

Someone recommended me this Italian restaurant. We ordered pasta, a Fiorentina style t-bonne steak and other meat. All dishes were nice expect the t-bone steak. It was fun of nerves and fast. It was also quite thin. The restaurant was very dark and we needed to use our mobile torched to be able to read it.

Great bread. Decided to go to Turangi for dinner as it was half an hour closer than Taupo (from where we were staying) I really wish we drove the extra 30 minutes into Taupo. Although the bread (well priced at $10 for a large serving) was delicious and ample in serving, we found the menu very minimal, the food was not up to restraunt standards, I feel you could get better results out of a jar from the supermarket. Not one to complain or negatively impact a business usually but just wanting to put the suggestion out there for future patrons that maybe they reconsider their choice of dining. The pasta was bland, we had the carbonara and the bolagnese, both were lacking in sauce. The carbonara was not creamy, it was pasta with parsley and bacon stirred through. The bolagnese was pasta with boiled mince stirred through it. The service was poor, long waiting times (pre warned which was fair enough) portion sizes huge, but for the taste and price I would not reccomend eating here. Apart from all of that I can’t stress enough, great bread. Also restraunt needs a major makeover as it is very outdated.
