Great tackle shop. They stock all you'll need to catch trout in the nearby river and give advice on how to do it. As an experienced angler I just needed some specific advice and kit for the local river, which I got and put to good use the next day catching a couple of nice Rainbows. No hard sell just the right gear for the job.

This trip to Turangi had me finding a cute little cafe behind a fishing and tackle shop tucked away in the trees. The Creel Cafe was surprisingly busy for a Friday afternoon, and after trying the food I can see why. 

I ordered a beef and sausage burger with jalapeños and caramelized onions which, although a bit small for how hungry I was, was fairly appetizing. The burger was a touch on the dry side and had a bit too much cumin, but the toppings, onions, and greens were very welcome. The bun was also very nice! The date square I had for desert finished the meal very well. It was rich in butter and sugar - everything a date square should be.

The cafe tables were all full so I ate out front of the shop, but it was a nice and clean atmosphere throughout. The staff were very friendly and it's clear that lots of locals enjoy the cafe. 

A great place to stop for a light meal and coffee in Turangi !

This is such an iconic cafe it's well worth a visit. A combination of a renowned fly fishing tackle shop with a nice cafe that sells great food and beverages. It fits perfectly with what Turangi is all about and why visitors flock there. Close to the river and cycle trail, it's a must visit cafe. I thoroughly recommend!

This place is so cute and right near the river.  Only the BEST mushroom pie in NZ seriously   nearly all the food is made on site,  real home cooking yummy.  Five stars, would be nice  if they had a coconut yoghurt or something dairy free for desert would be nice ;)

This has to be the most boutique burger in New Zealand. Beautiful setting under amazing trees and exquisite patisserie.
