I really enjoyed my visit here. I came for a week trip and was happy with my stay. The staff were nice and checked in on me to ask when I was arriving as I came at night. The check in process was simple and easy. Although I will note that the reception area's ground floor had a very strong laundry and chemical smell to it. It was not bad but it was a little unpleasant.nnNevertheless, the rooms were good for the price. Had a couple of interesting things such as a manual AC dial which I have never seen. I was also not a fan of the lighting layout and the popcorn ceiling. There were some basics in the room but I didn't use any. The bed was ok and didn't feel bad. The shower pressure and head could have been a little bit better.nnThe room also had huge sliding doors which I always love to get some fresh air and sun in. There was also a really nice view out of the city.nnOverall pretty good value and can't complain.
It is ok. Great snacks available at the front counter. Shower cold and never gets hot. Reported the issue, not resolved. Same issue on check in and then really early the next day. A hot bath is an essential. The hotel doors all close so loudly you are awaken at all hours. Room absolutely freezing. Aircon did not seem to do anything. Love that the rooms have a bath. A bath is why I booked here in this older hotel and then the water was almost cold for both of my baths. These issues are fixable.
About the only positive I can think of is that the bed was good.nI was very disappointed with the room amenities, especially that there was nowhere to put our bags to unpack, or in fact, anywhere to put our clothes!nI suggested to the receptionist, that there seemed to be furniture missing from our room, in particular a suitcase stand of any kind and no drawers for clothes. He said there was nothing missing and suggested that other guests put their cases on the floor!nI said this was not an option for me, due to arthritis in my back painful to bend. I took photos to upload, but that doesnt seem to be an option.nAs we stayed three nights, I wanted to unpack my clothes. We put our cases on the lounge and I put some clothes on the back of that.nAlso, the bathtub and hand basin were both cracked and both basic taps needed washers replaced.
Decided to indulge in a 2 night stay, room was comfy and clean and for the price it would’ve been nice to have some complimentary water in the room. No notice given that the Pool would be closed for renovation until you checked in and saw a sign advising you. Stairs to restaurant closed so had to go outside in the rain to go through to the front entry door. Staff excellent.
I booked to stay at the Rockhampton Mercure with my mother and son. I booked for three people which the room allowed for. Closer to the date I was told I need to pay an extra $40 for staff to set up the trundle bed. I have never had to pay extra before after booking for the room.nWhen we arrived the trundle bed was not set up and had old sheets inside it. The trundle bed was also very uncomfortable to sleep in resuming in us putting the mattress on the floor instead which was better.nnIn saying this staff were apologetic and friendly. Staff tried to assist us as much as they could.
