Tongariro Lodge is one of the finest lodges anyone could hope to visit especially if you are seeking world class fly fishing for big rainbow and brown trout. The manager Guido is a fantastic host and the friendly staff look after every detail. The passionate guides have great personalities and are very experienced. They give you the best chance to catch your trout of a lifetime for sure. The food in their dining room is also world class. I have travelled world wide on fishing trips and I can't wait to return to Tongariro Lodge next year. Congratulations to Tony, Tim, Guido and all the staff for making this such a special place.

I've never felt so unwelcome. Staying at a 5-star chalet we were rudely told on both nights that we couldn't eat at their restaurant..first because it was so quiet they decided to close, recommending burger king and second because it was so busy, they couldn't accommodate 2 people and to quote "they would run out of food and already everyone had to stay until 10pm". We were then told rather sarcastically that we should book at any restaurant in New Zealand if we wanted to eat there. Hardly 5 star service, regret staying here.

Great location,right next to the river,for every wallet something.they need a pro guy to clean their windows.

Food wasn't as good as it should have been - it was ok but nothing incredible. Customer service was awful - very slow on our drinks, forgot our wine and the manager was generally rude. No ambiance with the innaproporiate music blaring. For the price, $400 for a four people, it wasn't worth it. Disappointed.
