Thank you pickled frog, you did not dissapoint! Everyone here is lovely, you will make great connections and feel at home. Everynight people are spending time together, from watching movies/tv in the cozy living room to playing board games and pool. Very lively and social, but not loud and abnoxious in any way. The Hostel is also only minutes walk from the CBD and a fantastic rivulet walk filled with platypus. Thank you to the amazing staff. If I’m ever in Hobart again I know where I will stay.
We stayed here twice during our trip in Tasmania. It was located perfectly as the city centre was very close.nThe staff were friendly and the hostel itself had a cozy atmosphere. The rooms were good. The rest of the amenities were fine as well. Would come back
This hostel is great. A lot of people stay for long periods of time, so even if you're just there for a few days like me you pick up on the sense of community and comradery that they keep going. And the staff are just as social and involved as the guests, all intermingling and hanging out. They have events, but there's also a lot of chill down time, and plenty of space to find a quiet corner to do your own thing. Huge kitchen, paid laundry, nice TV, book nook, fireplaces, couches, chairs, and booths, pool table, info about the area, etc. And it's in a great location walkable to much of Hobart.nnAccessibility note - like most hostels, the main building is not accessible. However, there is a back building with accessible dorm rooms, and they are happy to help make it work, though if you can't do any steps at all you couldn't access the kitchen, laundry, lounge rooms, etc. Still could be a good cheap stay if you just need a bed for a few nights.
I might have just been lucky with the timing, but during my one-week stay, there were three days when I was the only guest, so it was very quiet and comfortable. Even on the other four days, the other guests were quiet and respectful, so overall it was a pleasant stay.nnAlso, the listing says there is free parking, but that’s a bit misleading.nIn reality, it just means that street parking is free from 6 PM to 10 AM.nIf you want to park in the actual parking area behind the hostel, it costs $50 per week.nnAs others have mentioned, the Wi-Fi is quite weak, so don’t expect much from it.nnHowever, one thing that bothered me was that the shower on the far end of the men’s side the one closest to the car park barely had any water coming out. I had to check all four showers and use the one with the strongest water pressure each time, which was honestly a bit annoying.nAlso, the toilet paper kept tearing every time I tried to pull it out, which was quite frustrating.nnWhat really annoyed me the most was about the refund.nI booked for two weeks but had to leave after one week because I found farm work. The day before check-out, one of the staff helped me calculate the refund — around $400 including accommodation and parking fees. They told me to ask the manager, Jon, about it when checking out.nBut when I talked to Jon on the check-out day, I only got about $190 back.nnIt’s simple math — just divide the total two-week accommodation fee by 14 to get the daily rate, then multiply by 7 for the unused week, plus $50 for parking I had paid $100 for two weeks.nI was honestly surprised that such a basic calculation couldn’t be done properly.nnSo my advice is: if you plan to stay here, book for a shorter period first and extend later if needed.nThat way, you won’t lose money like I did nHobart is a lovely place, so enjoy your stay!
I stay I this hostel since one month and half, I really enjoy it and I may stay even longer.nThe location is great, the accommodation too, but the strong point of this hostel is all the people here. The mood with the guests is pretty nice and the people working here are all very kind, friendly and ready to help.nFor example, when someone starts to harass the other guests, or make someone feeling not well or unsafe, the security guy is always ready to fix the problem, with calm and authority. That’s also what helps this place to keep safe, and permite to fellow like at home.nI recommend 100%!
