Awesome service, snacks, meals, trivia nights, and good range of drinks. Decently priced. Awesome place, but gets too packed on most nights. Tough to get a seat. Too many inconsiderate people lingering during work days instead of being responsible and going home to their families people, so that the rest of us can drink in peace.

Four stars, largely on the basis of the great venue and pleasant after-hours vibe. I've been going for years. Although it does have that irksome 'professional pub management' thing against it, The Mitre remains a great little hidden corner of Old Melbourne. There's a decent selection of beers at the usual sort of price (for which you can thank government, more than business). The Mitre can have quite a mixed crowd on any given day, although on Friday afternoons you can expect the financial services lads to be here in force - and quite a pleasant change it is, to be out on the town and see grown-ups dressed like grown-ups and having a fine old time. There's nothing stuffy or precious about the place. Well worth a visit if you're in the neighbourhood.

A Melbourne institution, great vibe, great selection of brews, great food that comes out fast. Everything you'd want in a pub. If you're really hungry, get the BBQ parma, you won't be disappointed. They have specials that I think changes every week and quite delicious and fresh. Service is great and attentive. Can get a bit loud at times if you just want to chat but early week is much quieter.

One of the oldest tavern of Melbourne. I recommend the Kosciuszko beer which is very refreshing. The interior is a bit dark. Heated smoking area outside.

Great place for an after work drink. Upstairs is he perfect place for a classic dinner. Steaks are amazing.
