The Last Jar
"The Last Jar is an Irish pub that prides itself on stellar service, great food and drink and live music in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Best known for our Beef and Guinness Pie we are open Tuesday to Sunday we offer a variety of live music. Wednesdays and Sundays are traditional Irish music nights, reminiscent of what you would find back in Ireland. Thursday nights are home to MacCrimmin’s weekly residency from 7pm, a mixture of both Irish and Scottish jigs, reels, polkas and songs. We have a variety of spaces within the venue: beer garden, function room, main bar and lounge alongside our new accommodation upstairs. Newly added pool table in the back room there is something for everyone at the Last Jar!"

This is still a great boozer on the inside, good beer served, especially the Pike Stout. (I’ve not seen this in any other pub in Melbourne), BUT, and it’s a big BUT. The food has gone way down in my estimation. A couple of years ago the food menu was fantastic... Venison, pepper black and white pudding, the deviled Kidneys were unreal. Last Jar, what’s happened? I had black pudding on toast yesterday and it was embarrassingly bad. Sorry but the Chef needs to go, he’s letting you down big time. Great pub, which once served brilliant food. Now it’s just a great pub with below par food.

Very disappointed. This boozer used to be amazing, great beer and great food but unfortunately it has taken a turn for the worst, the beer is still quality and it still a good boozer with a good beer selection but the food is just poor in comparison to what it used to be...

Had reserved a table for 10 for lunch but they are no longer doing table service (was warned when booking the table). Had to queue at the bar to order along with everyone else ordering drinks, took about 10 minutes as there was only one person taking orders. Waited over 40 minutes only to be told that the chef hadn't even started cooking our order yet. We were given refunds on our food but this should have really extended to drinks as well. While we were leaving, another table (who had also reserved a table) were getting up to leave without their food as well. I've no idea what happened but they had three fairly large groups who'd booked ahead so they should have been prepared for this. Also, being told our food would be two minutes, only to be told 10 minutes later that it hadn't even been started, was really bad. I doubt anyone from our group (who work locally) will be going back.

Terrific pies, try the fish pie ... yummo. Big servings, fantastic staff and vibrant Irish sounds from the local musicians. Love this place. Cheers
