Fantastic pub in the heart of Melbourne. The gnocchi was super flavourful and the parmas are nice and hearty. On the premium end of the pub experience, but well worth the experience if you've got the opportunity.Food: 5/5
Food is good for pub food. It's not going to be a hatted restaurant though. Service is fantastic. Had an incident which required staff to help out and they delivered flawlessly. Place has also been nicely renovated over the years and is great for big groups.Food: 3/5
Great place! the vibe is nice, saw lots of people just still there casually watching AFL, feel comfortable to just chat with my mates and enjoy my beer Food: 4/5
We held our friends hens day here, we were in Arthur’s Cocktail Bar and had a wonderful time. We had the space to ourselves and recieved a warm welcome when we arrived and allowed us to do some small decorations in the space. Chris was our barman and was absolutely outstanding! His service was fantastic and definitely went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time. I hope management recognise and rewards his efforts! I would recommend the Duke of Wellington to anyone hosting a little event. Will definitely be back again
The service was shocking here last night, the security were watching us watch the footy almost without blinking, the bar staff were rude and I even had to take the drinks off the tray when they arrived. The shorter blonde bartender was the most rude and when cleaning tables she sprayed cleaner on a man too which got him to leave and just had no care about it. The food and drinks were very very very expensive. Including a 15% surcharge, I paid $19.85 per pint that I was ordering and over $50 per person for dinner. The rump steak didn’t look 350g and was a bit dry, so it was good they had butter on top, but it already had pepper on it which I don’t like and it wasn’t advertised anywhere. I liked that they used The Pass app because I received a few $10 discounts for all the money I was spending, but maybe that’s also why it’s priced higher. I heard the same songs many times when they were playing music, but it was good that there was a range of sport on TV and the live music with the guitar took requests and created a slightly better feeling to the place. I won’t be going back.
To be honest I probably wouldn't have chosen to go inside the Duke... it isn't the kind of public house that I am attracted to. I must say though, that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover- I really enjoyed the experience. The food was good, the beers were cold and wet. Well, I enjoyed the experience. I was there to meet other designers; and I'd certainly go back again.
Service was relatively quick, complemented by a laid-back atmosphere. A pleasant dining experience all around. Highly recommend the parmas & calamari.Food: 5/5
Our out of town group of four have dined in Dining Room Saturday night 4 May and in Arthur’s Bar Sunday 5 May. Service, food and atmosphere exceptional. In particular the customer service, attention to our needs by Nick was superb. Friendly staff, great neat and tidy venue. Wine list very good and menu very practical. Must also mention chef’s perfection in presented prawn linguine, grilled swordfish and calamari. Even the security guard in ground floor bar chi bites a friendly sense of humour when we arrived.
The beer was really cold and delicious. Perhaps because it was a Friday night, the band was singing and it was so loud that we had to move. Not recommended if you want to talk quietly with your companions.Food: 5/5
First time visiting this place. The decor inside is very nice and interesting to look at. It doesn't have that dirty old beer pub smell which was really nice for a change. The premises and toilets were clean. There are three levels, which at first we found a bit confusing of where we were meant to be going to eat. We were pleasantly surprised by the food. My favourite was the Halloumi dish, amazing!! I also had the gnocchi which was good and chicken pieces which were moist and full of flavour. We were able to order from our table which was nice not to have to get up and figure out who and how to split the bill. Food came out pretty quickly which was good. I don't drink, but had a lemon lime bitters which was on point. My friends enjoyed the alcohol a lot!! Most of the staff were really nice, one person I am hoping was just having a rough night!
