Historic hotel with lots of old world charm. However, there were many areas of the room which weren’t clean see pics of thick dust on top of wardrobe & bathroom vent. Fan provided in room but very noisy which made sleep hard. Breakfast is served continental in the beautiful dining room, but was very basic for a 3-star hot food to order at additional charge. The building is beautiful - like the veranda and stain glass windows - but under closer inspection felt rundown. Ultimately, a hotel should offer a good nights sleep and cleanliness and sadly both were lacking.
A historic Hotel that definitely needs some maintenance and cleaning.nThe room was full of moths and at breakfast included in the room price I was charged 15.20 $ extra for two eggs no, there was no menu in the table indicating that it would be charged extra, as insisted by the receptionist when paying the bill.nA bit more friendliness by the staff would help.nThis excludes the funny Spanish receptionist at arrival.
We had a couple of quite different experiences at The Carrington. The first was a lovely morning tea in one of their grand rooms, surrounded by echos of yesteryear. The staff were warm and welcoming and the displayed photos of the area were very interesting. As we enjoyed it so much, we booked ourselves in for dinner the next evening. That experience was quite different with the desk person quizzing us sternly as soon as we had stepped through the front door. The dining room was grand and the piano music during our dinner was nice. The food however was disappointing and the service during dinner could best be described as indifferent. Overall, it's an interesting place, worth visiting if you have a bit of time in Katoomba. If you choose to eat there, I hope your experience is better than ours.
Beautiful hotel with lots of history. If you like the blue mountains this is perfect hotel to enjoy a weekend. Rooms are old style and the atmosphere you feel here is like time has stopped. Rooms comfortable with heating system for cold winter night. Close to town to scroll for a walk. Plenty of space for parking.I recommend this hotel anytime and I will be back I will definitely return here. You will not be disappointed.
Stayed in the Colonial room, future guests thinking of staying with the discounted rate, should make sure you get it in writing for continental breakfast included , as promised when checking in.Very disappointing to be refused breakfast in morning. We left abruptly with reception staff unrepentant..nHad a wonderful breakfast across the road at the Magician Cafe...highly recommended!
