Fantastic care from preoperative to post operative and in the ward.nThe food is amazing & room service feels like a hotel. Being able to order what you want & what time you want it is great. The variety is so good too.nThe nursing staff on the ward are so caring and nothing is any trouble.nI o ly had to stay 1 night, & the nurses are so helpful.nThankyou for a wonderful experience
I recently had surgery at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in East Melbourne, and I would like to share my mixed experience.nThe day of the surgery went exceptionally well. I chose this hospital specifically because of the reputation of my surgeons, who are truly the best in their field. On the surgery day, everything went smoothly, and the entire team was supportive and kind, which made a big difference in my overall experience. I am very pleased with the outcome of the surgery itself.nHowever, my experience post-surgery was less satisfactory. I was an inpatient for three nights and was placed in quarantine for over 48 hours, despite having two negative rapid COVID-19 tests and showing no symptoms other than a runny nose from a cold night after my surgery. While I understand the necessity of a PCR test as part of the hospital’s policy, it took five days for the result to come back, by which time I had already been discharged.nDuring this waiting period, the level of care I received fell short of my expectations. I encountered several issues, including:nn•Care Delays: Delays in regular check-ups by the nursing staff. One nurse even made me wait half an hour to assist me to the toilet due to my COVID-19 status, which was quite distressing.n•Inadequate Clean-Up: My bed was not changed during my stay as the staff insisted on waiting for the PCR test results first.n•Noise and Comfort: A noisy trolley  was placed outside my room and used throughout the night, disrupting my sleep.n•Visitor Restrictions: No visitors were allowed, which added to the stress of my situation.n•Food Service: Ordering food and having it delivered was cumbersome, and retaining dishes was an additional effort.n•Forgotten IV Cannula: I noticed that the IV cannula was not removed from my arm until I was leaving the hospital.nnOverall, while the surgery and initial care were commendable, the post-surgery experience and management were disappointing. As a private hospital, I had higher expectations for the quality of care and comfort. Unfortunately, my experience did not fully meet those expectations.
We could not have hoped for a better hospital experience for our 3 year old son’s first operation. The fantastic jungle theming delighted him and was the perfect distraction. The beautiful nurses were so lovely and helpful. Well set up with great support for parents too.
Simply outstanding service from the Reception to being taken to room, where another lovely greeting. Nurses, cleaners and catering staff went well beyond what was required of them. Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists caring and helpful professionals. The stay was almost like being in well-run hotel
Most of the nursing staff were lovely. However, one nurse particularly abrupt and rough and did not show any care towards the patient.nCommunication between surgeon, anesthetist and pharmacy was poor.nI recommend future patients ask about post surgery medication and obtain your own scripts because the Slades pharmacy at Saint Vincents hospital in East Melbourne are too expensive.
