Our first time staying at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour after a few previous trips to Sofitel Wentworth. We are diamond members and were directed to floor 35 for check-in. The whole process was handled so warmly including the extra room we had booked for friends. Glass of champagne for us all while we completed checkin and our rooms were ready quite early. Both rooms were excellent but we were upgraded to luxury corner room with floor to ceiling glass, massive bathroom, chaise lounge. We also had complimentary pressing of couple of items and of course the pillow menu. When booking the prices were reasonably similar but last time we found the Wentworth rooms too small with little/no drawers in bathrooms, bedsides or for clothing and our room was then cluttered. We had breakfast at the buffet two mornings when they weren’t busy and found that coffees and eggs that had to be ordered form the table were coming after we had already eaten our hot meal. We did chase up on the coffees and they hadn’t been missed they just take too long. Our last morning we had breakfast at floor 35/lounge and it was beautifully done, lovely view, quick service, menu items very interesting, beautiful and tasty. When staying again we will just go to the lounge. Other lovely touches with welcome gifts in our rooms and late checkouts. The afternoon tea was a beautiful little assortment. And we also had canapes and drinks including cocktails which were delish and the staff were friendly and efficient. We were in the lounge earlier before heading out and places did fill very quickly. The location was perfect for us with ferry terminal, Barangaroo, and the heritage bridge across the bay. We can’t wait to return soon.
I booked through my credit card with my points as I probably couldn’t afford 5 nights otherwise. Definitely worth it. They upgraded me to a fancy corner room with view of Darling Harbour. Comfortable bed, amazing bathroom. Super clean. Only negative is no microwave and minimal fridge space. Breakfast buffet included a lot of food and was open past 9 unlike tiny continental breakfasts and they were very attentive. Good location in darling harbour, walkable access to ferries, shopping, restaurant 15-20min, long walk to the opera house 40 min but doable.nThere’s construction happening right next to the hotel, made the pool area a bit less desirable, but by no means was that the fault of the hotel, pool was chilly but refreshing on a hot day, plenty of seating.
From arrival to departure, the staff were attentive, warm, and helpful. An abundance of elevators that all travelled smoothly. The room was sufficiently spacious; lots of flat surfaces for unpacking & working, decent a/c, oddly no lightswitch by the door but not a big deal. There *were* lights in the closets though, and I appreciated in particular that they had fabric hangers as well. Little details Incredibly comfortable bedding and a niiice bathroom. The breakfast buffet had some solid offerings, nothing terribly exciting but the classics they executed deliciously well. The Anti-Aging mixed juice was delightful.nnSuper convenient location. I was in Sydney for the Josh Groban concert at the ICC right next door! There were *quite* a few events happening in Sydney over the weekend Mardi Gras, Lunar New Year, Greek Festival ; the hotel muffled most of the noise, but was still nice and close if you were attending. Walking distance from Darling Harbour/Quarter/Square, Chinatown, and a vast array of food establishments. The Light Rail station is literally across the street.nnThe in-house Sofitel Spa was an oasis. Somehow tranquil despite the view of construction right outside. The initial consult was thoughtful and thorough; disappointed though I was that my own allergies prevented the use of many products my room's amenities included I very much appreciated that they took the time to let me swab test and properly discuss options without being too clinical. The massage was deeply relaxing and all too brief haha.nnOverall, a great little staycation.
Amazing 2 night stay for my Wife's birthday. We upgraded to a darling harbour view room with Millesime Club access. We are so glad we did as it elevated our whole experience from the dedicated check-in on the 35th floor, amazing views while enjoying breakfast, afternoon tea or canapés, sleep benefits which included slippers laid next to bed, lavender spray for pillow and chamomile tea and my wife even enjoyed a complimentary mini birthday cake! We really did feel special. There was a double charge on our account when checking out but that was promptly and apologetically dealt with once identified. All the staff we had dealings with were courteous, attentive and friendly. Well done everyone - a great Hotel which we now be our go to for Sydney stays.
Had a wonderful experience at Sofitel Darling Harbour. The hotel is modern, elegant, and perfectly located in the heart of Darling Harbour. The rooms are spacious with amazing views, and the infinity pool overlooking the harbour is a highlight. The staff were incredibly attentive and made the stay very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Sydney.
