Reason for choosing Sofitel. 5 star overlooking Darling Harbour with infinity pool. The hotel website images create an impression of an adult focused, relaxing pool area with views of Darling Harbour. In fact, the furniture is nothing like shown on the website and it is packed with families and loud children even tried at 9am and same. People changing nappies on the tables!! There is heavy construction work in front of the hotel and building work on the pool terrace. The hotel can’t help building work of course, but it would have been nice to know that the views of Darling Harbour are marred by cranes etc. The image of the superior bedroom that I booked showed an image of a Darling Harbour view. We had a car park view. Asked to change rooms even to pay more but was told that hotel was full. However, rooms were still available to book on-line.nRoom was comfortable albeit a bit small for 2 double beds.nI would not stay here again. It was a great disappointment.
We stayed at this hotel for a week during our trip to Sydney, and it was hands down the best value for the price. The room was comfortable, the staff were friendly, and the location was great. But what truly stood out was the breakfast — it was by far the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had! The variety, quality, and flavors were amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would definitely stay here again.
The two French front of house “in training staff” were so amazing. Honestly, both deserve a pay rise and their training wheels taken off. They are all class. The room design was odd with nowhere to plug in kettle except on bedside table, or the main table. The lighting system is frustrating as well. Keep it simple is better and there should be a door to seperate the closet. The pool towel return system makes zero sense as you exit the pool and have to circle back to drop off towels. Positives include the bed and comfort of pillows, the breakfast and coffee is world class. The ambiance is perfect and the speed and ease of lifts was great. The outdoor pool was great however there was not enough pool lounges and little help removing peoples towels who weren’t swimming or even using a pool lounge. Luggage folks were also a positive as were the concierge staff. At these prices with the constriction that’s occurring and starting to block off views, we would consider another hotel next trip.
We stayed at Sofitel Darling Harbour for three nights after New Year’s in a two double bed room. While the room was on the smaller side for the price, it was impeccably clean and well-maintained, with high-quality furnishings that added a touch of elegance. The inclusion of Balmain soaps, lotions, and hair products was a lovely and luxurious detail that didn’t go unnoticed.nnThe customer service and valet staff were great—professional, friendly, and a pleasure to interact with throughout our stay.nnDining at Atelier was a highlight. The steak was truly outstanding—some of the best I’ve ever had—and the French-inspired menu was impressive. That said, I was surprised by the number of diners dressed casually in such an upscale restaurant, which detracted slightly from the ambiance.nnThe pool area offered stunning views, making it a great place to relax. However, I did notice several cockroaches near the lounge chairs, which was disappointing and detracted from an otherwise beautiful experience.nnIt’s a great choice for those seeking elegance and convenience in the heart of Sydney. Overall I very positive stay and would recommend.
The stay was pleasant. Good location. Rooms were clean and Sofitel Sydney is much better and newer than Sofitel Melbourne Melbourne hotel is outdated and in desperate need for a renovation when I stayed there a few months back. The premier lounge breakfast was a mess because of lack of staff for seating us and receiving the food was slow. But breakfast at the common area was alright. Another negative. As a Platinum member they couldn’t even check in our rooms on time. We just managed to get the keys for the second room 3:15pm . So I don’t even know what being Platinum even means for this hotel management..nnStill rate the hotel 4/5 because the rooms were clean and nice. The club lounge cocktail hour was top notch too.
