The hotel is really nice, the location is somewhat close to public transit, and the Harbour views are stunning. For a “5 star hotel” it has absolutely no amenities.nnI really enjoyed my interactions with staff and felt like people were super kind. The only thing is the world of hyatt check in line is super inefficient. The regular lines are much faster.
For the price, I was really happy with this hotel.nnI was given a room upgrade, the food & beverage were excellent. The bedding was fresh and comfortable. Everything was done well.nnWhen I stayed here several years ago, I experienced many service issues. Things have significantly improved since then. The service I encountered on this weeknight-stay was excellent.nnMy only complaint: the downstairs bar should remain open longer - 22:30 is too early to close.nnNonetheless, I would happily stay here again.
Wonderfully located hotel overlooking Darling Harbour. Note that this is close to but not close enough to see Sydney harbour or the spectacular NYE fireworks. Darling harbour has its own NYE fireworks which are still spectacular.nService was great. Rooms were as you would expect from a premium brand hotel - but so were the prices!
Extremely Disappointed with Hyatt Regency Sydney Staff. As a World of Hyatt member, I was looking forward to my second stay at Hyatt Regency Sydney, especially after an exceptional first experience. Unfortunately, this time was nothing short of disappointing, and it completely ruined what was supposed to be a special weekend celebrating my wife’s birthday. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff set the tone for a frustrating stay. There was no recognition of my Hyatt membership, no warm welcome, and the staff member assisting us seemed rushed, dismissive, and even borderline racist in his attitude. When I asked about parking and validation, he was unhelpful and vague. Thankfully, the luggage staff stepped in and provided some guidance, but the experience left a sour taste right from the start. The Regency Club staff were fantastic, and the food was excellent, but the failure to deliver on a simple request ruined everything. On Monday, my wife’s birthday, I arranged for high tea in our room at 12 pm before heading to the airport. The club staff assured me that concierge would handle it. However, when we returned to the room expecting a special setup, it was completely empty. I called concierge, and they promised to fix it, but after waiting until 1:30 pm, nothing arrived. We had to leave for the airport, and the lack of effort was deeply upsetting for both me and my wife. To top it off, I was overcharged for parking in the same parking for a public access there was weekend flat rate of $30 per night, I was charged a ridiculous $135. This feels like a blatant attempt to take advantage of guests. What was meant to be a joyful and celebratory stay turned into an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience while the Regency Club staff and luggage team did their best, the rest of the staff’s lack of professionalism, poor communication, and outright disregard for guest satisfaction completely overshadowed any positives. I expected much better from Hyatt Regency Sydney, and this stay has left me questioning whether I’d ever return.
Just a night for my business trip couldn’t have been enough—the overall stay was wonderful. The check-in staff I couldn’t remember her name kindly offered a 12:30 late checkout when I requested 1pm, as they were very busy during the holiday season. While toothpaste and toothbrush weren’t provided in the room, the houseman was very helpful when I called, offering extra toiletries. The checkout process was smooth and easy.nnThe only downside I noticed was a hair in the room and the floor underneath the bed being quite dusty and dirty. Otherwise, a good experience overall.
