Last time I was at Sails it was pretty covid, so wasn't sure if it was still good with so many fine dining competitors on the scene these days.nnCan't beat the view looking over the Marina and a view of the Harbour Bridge.nnSet menu with wine paring overall great flavours and solid pared wines.nnThe duck was on the quite well done side, hence the 4/5 comparing it restaurants of the equivalent price point.nnWell worth a return visit.
Had dinner with husband. Warm welcome, lovely place and neat presented tables. I wouldn't call it a fancy place. Food was good. Only the starters were average. Prawns and scallops which were frozen, defrosted and cooked.m- just ok.nHe enjoyed his fish while l enjoyed my duck. Good serving. Had some cocktails too.nnIt was fully packed on a Sunday. They can have more waiters when it's busy rather than having 3 people for the whole floor . Otherwise we had a good experience.
We had a great time at Sails, I've heard a lot about this restaurant from NewsTalk and the anchor Layton talking up the place over the years.nnMy sister booked for the 4 of us to enjoy a birthday dinner. From the start the service was amazing, attentive and great.nnThe drinks arrived and were a great start to the night.nnThe food, we tried 4 different appetisers - scallops, seared tuna, arancini & prawns. The serving size was perfect and tasted amazing.nnThe mains we had a mix of market fish snapper with lemon risotto, King salmon & surf & turf. The mains were a great portion size and again the flavours were on point the fish was cooked great, the salmon was also delicious and the csurf and turf disappeared quickly.nnFor dessert I got a suprise birthday petite four plate decorated with happy birthday which was a great touch. The pavlova was not too sweet, I had the creme brulee which was also balanced nicely with the set and tart. The Whittakers brownie disappeared soo quickly it must have been delicious.nnWe had great wine suggestions and the views into the harbour and the bridge was just the right touch. You can just bet we'll be back!
One of my favourite restaurants in Auckland. I’ve been here a few times over the years and celebrated my sister’s birthday here recently. Service is top notch as always, and I absolutely adore the view and peace at Sails. The four of us enjoyed the Winter set menu very nice. So glad they survived over COVID-19 and standards are kept the same! Well done team!
We went to Sails for our anniversary celebration and the food and service exceeded our expectations!nnEach plate was delicious - will definitely be back!
