Very very average is pretty much the only way to describe this place. Yes the location is excellent, but there are other nicer views in Auckland where you get a far better meal for less. The food was plain and boring and completely lacking in flavour. Won't bother going here again when there are so many other better choices around.

Service was pretty good considering it was a busy Friday close to Christmas time etc, friendly wait staff. One table of our large group received their meals first then there was quite a time lapse until the next table got theirs but hey we’re relaxed kiwis. We had the ‘large group set menu’ with choice of several mains - hubby and I found the chicken and veal pretty ‘dry’. Would be keen to return though and try the normal menu sometime. Cocktails were nice 👍🏼

Food was pretty nice I have to say, but you are paying for it (it's pretty damn expensive here). I've definitely had better Italian for half the price elsewhere but you gotta pay for the location somehow. The actual waiter made it abundantly clear that we should pay a tip. Even going as far as to say 'How much are you going to pay on the bill'?... And whenever we said the total he just acted like he didn't understand, until we rounded it up and added a tip. The prosecco was lovely but again, very expensive. Overall, it was a good experience, but that's to be expected for a $150 meal.

Food was good, service was absolutely pitiful. It took longer than an hour for our table to get our food; other people came in after us, got their food and finished before we got our food. After complaining about this one of the staff (possibly the manager or owner) argued with us and tried to tell us that he didn't take long. Just to put this in context, one of us ordered fries. It took them longer than an hour to prepare a small plate of fries. The food was great but I am absolutely disgusted by the service. What a great way to celebrate a mates birthday. I asked for free drinks for the table to make up for it, but they declined. Not coming back.

I was really excited about our spontaneous decision to drive into town for some awesome authentic Italian - and that's where the excitement ends! Food was anything but handmade authentic Italian, and I have eaten my way around some of Australia's best Italian restaurants. Tortellini was straight out of a packet - I could tell from the colour and awful beef paste inside just like the supermarket ones. Very annoyed that they insisted it was homemade like I didn't know my Italian food!! Sadly they have lost us as return diners and another 160 dollars. Bad taste Portofino - bad!!!
