I brought my bike in with a broken chain and was told it wasn't worth fixing and a new chain would be $30. l took their word for it and said yes to replacing it. When l went to pay, l was charged $70. l queried the price of the chain to be told he quoted me for the 6 cog but mine was a 7 cog. (This was after he had worked on it for 5 minutes or so and right before he got the more expensive one). He then charged me $20 for 10 minutes work. The only good thing l can say is that he worked on it right away. Would not use this firm again. Also interesting how this was the only review for the place until l went in and told them about it and all of a sudden several other reviews - all perfect appear. Hmmmm

After a strange and unhelpful customer experience with another bike shop today I tried Papanui Cycles and had the polar opposite experience! Kev and his team are awesome! If you are a new to biking like me but you're clocking up the kms and you are training for an event I highly recommend Kev! I went to see if I could get my gears fixed, he jumped straight on my bike, and within mins was explaining why my gears weren't working and what he could do for me. I had a few more questions, got some great advice and as a result I will go back to buy the bike I am on the looking out for, for an event I am currently training for. This was an excellent experience with front people who like people. I felt listened to, I felt I could ask stuff and I left with what I need for now. I can pick up the bike he is fixing for me today! Also, another great thing was he didn't try sell me stuff I don't need😁 Thanks so much Papanui Cycles. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
