RACV Travel Insurance is operated by Tokio Marine Management Australasia. When taking out the Travel Insurance policy, the service was great. BUT my experience when trying to make a claim has been absolutely awful. Only 4 days before our departure on a long-delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic trip to Europe, my husband suddenly and completely unexpectedly was diagnosed with acute, sudden onset leukaemia. He has absolutely no medical history that indicated this would happen. Obviously we couldn't go on our trip, and we made a claim for the lost payments for a cruise on the Croatian coast, and the first couple of nights accommodation which were the only parts of the trip not cancellable at short notice. Trying to make the claim has become a nightmare. The approach of RACV/Tokio Marine has been to continually ask for more and more medical information, over a period of more than 3 months. Each time we submit additional medical information, the response came back that they want more information, or the same information already supplied, but in a different format. I have now uploaded into their online claim system a total of 27 documents supporting our claim from our GP, hospitals and medical specialists, as well as travel documents. They have been provided with more than 2 years of complete medical records, but have rejected them because their assessor says in a recorded telephone conversation that patient consultation notes have to be sourced from a digital patient medical record system - which our family GP doesn't have - our GP still writes all his patient medical/consultation notes by hand during each consultation, and has already provided scans of 4 pages of his very detailed medical notes to RACV. Our GP has also offered several options that RACV/Tokio Marine can use to confirm all the scanned notes provided are genuine. But RACV/Tokio Marine wont accept any of his proposed verification solutions. In fact, the RACV/Tokio Marine assessor falsely accused me in a recorded telephone conversation that "you could have written them yourself" because the medical notes were handwritten by the GP. I strongly objected to being accused of fraud - there was absolutely no basis for this appalling accusation call was recorded, but the assessor, Manus Bhatt, refused to retract the false accusation. RACV/Tokio Marine also warn on their claims website that "they are experiencing long delays" and that it can take them up to 20 working days to respond to any messages you send them about your claim. So this means that each time they ask for more information, and you upload more documents into the claim website, it can be up to 20 working days before they turn around a response. Hence our claim has taken more than 3 months of hours and hours of preparing the documents they keep asking for, before it was denied due "lack of medical information". All this is despite the fact that my husband's medical specialists at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, as well as his GP of more than 30 years, have provided written confirmation/documentation to RACV/Tokio Marine that his leukaemia was completely and totally "out of the blue" with absolutely no prior medical indication or history that this could happen. Several times I asked that they supply a template of the format they require for medical records, but RACV/Tokio Marine advised the didn't have one. Our GP has also offered several options that RACV/Tokio Marine can use to confirm with him that all the scanned medical notes provided are genuine - but they have refused to accept any of our GP's proposed solutions. Sharing this so that others particularly long-standing, 30+ years RACV Club Members like me are aware that claiming on RACV Travel Insurance can be a total nightmare. They will deny a medical claim if your GP does not hold their patient medical records in a particular format which changed with each communication they send me and none of this is mentioned in the PDS.
I've had a home insurance policy with these guys for multiple years, gave them thousands of dollars. The one time I make a claim regarding my house, they deny it citing incorrect installation. Absolute crooks, do not go with them, they'll do anything, say anything to deny your claim. Take your business elsewhere.
Very nice expérience with this office. We're from France and everything was quick and clear. Thank you
RACV like many organisations are quick to blame organisations they engage to provide services as part of their commited service to you. So when you pay for express or premium services which aren't delivered and they have charged you for, they indicate you must take it up with their service provider. Given you don't have a choice you'd expect that they support you in your enquiries with their service provider. Think twice before you engage an organisation which is keen to delegate accountability, Would you want your insurer or service provider looking to delegate to others and adding admin to you.
We had our house flooded by the washing machine 7 weeks ago and are still waiting for a final scope of works as the house had to dry out and be treated for mould because they didn’t come and pull the flooring up for 3 weeks after the flooding. They and their contract builders Bay Building have been horrendous to deal with! They do not return phone calls and occasionally will reply to an email. We have lived in three rooms of our house for seven weeks with mould parts of the floor missing and without power for eight days during the recent storms and still cannot get help or a start on the job from the RACV despite ringing them three times a day. I have never had a claim before in my life in 62 years and I’ve paid a lot of money to this company for building and contents cars and caravan. I expect better. I definitely would not recommend RACV insurance **UPDATE after involving the regulatory board for insurance companies being a AFCA the Racv finally approved our claim and paid out the claim. Hopefully they will change their processes and become more customer friendly.
In and out within 10 minutes for my International Driver's Licence, including taking a new photo for my licence. Quick, efficient and good value.
The difference between a shocking Xmas shop and a frustrating wait is great customer service. Welcomed as I entered, warned immediately that there would be a wait. Then took my details quickly to see if I could be helped quickly. What more can I ask for..... Well maybe nice cinema tickets for Xmas present rather then a printed piece of paper. Bingo she immediately showed me a nice fold that made the tickets look a touch nicer. Thanks
A touchscreen display at the entrance registers visitors by name rather than the old ticket method. Staff were efficient and friendly and issued the required documents with great care. They are open on Saturday mornings which is handy for workers unable to attend on week days
Just went into this store because i wanted to buy an atlas. Its not really a store so you have to wait where there is a concierge. The lady was clearly frustrated with a customer in front of me but apparently she had become annoyed at me because i was queueing but i didn't sit down like waiting for reg or something so she said 'can you please sit down sir' in this annoyed tone... Like cant i just continue waiting whats wrong with that? So although it was the closest place to get the book i wanted i had to leave because I didn't really feel positive after this about the whole experience. Feel bad for anyone using whatever other services they provide if thats how they roll.
My experience was great on a Wednesday morning. The lady who served me was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I will be back next time I need an international driver's licence.
