As a short term stay at Maidstone lodge I found the stay to be quite enjoyable!! The loft room was fantastic, nice and roomy and very cheap for the Auckland prices these days! The lounge was kept very tidy as was the entire building and every time you walked into the lounge area you could gauretee the hover would be at work keeping the place clean and tidy for all there guest! Found managers great and highly recommend this place as a place to stay!

Maidstone Lodge would have to be 1 of the worse places I ever stayed in. Despite the clever marketing, it's prices are absolutely pathetic, you pay anything from 235 to 320 for the rooms in the upper level....320 for sub standard facilities, and in a low socio economic area!! It's quite obvious now that Maidstone Lodge has been brought out by filthy rich corporate types who don't care about people, all they care about is MONEY and ripping people off The kitchen is sub standard with half the stoves and elements not working, despite numerous requests to management to fix the damn things.....domestics are quite common with Police being called out very often to quell the disturbances, perhaps management need to clamp down on all the binge drinking and dope smoking that goes on in that place, just a thought Not impressed at all, glad I got out when I did

terrible place, the manager is a total cretin, some very bad people living there, criminals, etc. It needs professional management, not someone who puts poor people in substandard rooms, charges them $90 more a week than he is meant to, and pockets the money without the owner even knowing these people ever lived there, or that he has been ripped off for tens of thousands of dollars.
