I was actually surprised by this place. Hadnt stayed here in years! Massive place. Nice and clean, modern. Lovely bathrooms, good bed, lovely staff. Loved the view to the water from our room. It was very good value for our money. One thing is, which we didn't get told, door handle goes up not down if your struggling to open your door. I'll definitely be back.
Great location. I've been working in the conference theatre on a television studio production. The theatre is very well appointed with its own equipment hardware, audio and lighting rigs with a permanent sound desk. Plenty of seating like a movie theatre. Air conditioning. Will be back in late December to rehearse and broadcast the last two episodes of the show LIVE to air.
The room was comfortable and clean, the food was nice. The problem is they don't communicate anything. I and my colleague had to ask where the rooms we were given were. There was no compendium telling us about the Restaurant, food available, prices or where it was. Let alone where a laundry and what other facilities were available. When I asked at reception I was given a paper copy of the menu. I found the restaurant and, saw there was a buffet going for dinner which wasn't mentioned on the menu and opted for that. Cost as I found out was $57 which is way expensive for what you get. When I returned to my room after work, the room hadn't been made up or coffee/tea/milk replenished. I often leave a door hanger outside to not make up my room as the default is usually to make it but this wasn't communicated and there were no door hangars. The same with breakfast, I normally get room service but there was nothing in the room to order it the night before let alone what options you could ask for. Not even pen and paper which is pretty standard for most Hotels. Then the person manning reception in a track suit when I left gave a less than caring impression. This could be a good hotel if they smarten their act up. I would think twice before staying again, like I said, food was ok but expensive buffet, room was comfortable. Just be aware, you will need to do the asking, they seem to have forgotten they aren't in MIQ anymore and have competition that goes a lot further.
Great place to stay. Very friendly staff who go over and above to help. A special thank you to Swanand who managed to bring magic and happiness to the Wellington Bar patrons on a crazy busy night after the Elton John concert was cancelled. Thank you !Rooms: 5/5
2 stars because the room was clean and tidy, but it was not the room I booked and paid for online 2 months prior, when I questioned why I had been given a twin room and not a king the response your not guaranteed the room you book, which is just ridiculous why let you book it then. The buffet breakfast was not good either, was cold and the scrambled eggs were the worst I have eaten, at $35 per person was expecting a lot better, overall disappointing
Clean and convenient hotel, with good conference facilities and capabilities. Unfortunately, the doors across multiple rooms me and my colleagues were in were not working - ended up having to change key cards, using special maneuvers on the door handle to get in, key card was unreliable for accessing the room. Seems a bit silly to be so difficult to access the room. Reception wasn’t particularly helpful and said it was because we had put our cards next to our phones, but the room card malfunctions were for multiple rooms & multiple people, and occurred within 5 minutes of picking up the card so there was very minimal opportunity for our phones to be the cause of corrupting the keycard. Wi-Fi was non existent in the evening. Worked decently in the early afternoon then stopped working for the remainder of the evening. Difficult to conduct work.
We have been going to the waipuna since 2014, and stayed just before xmas and again yesterday, disappointed on both occassions, rooms are now getting tired and in need of a freshen up, no hot water for showers either. xmas buffet dinner wasnt very nice, not as much to choose from as previous years and everything that was supposed to be hot food was cold, but we gave it another try yesterday and very disappointed again, buffet food wasnt of good quality, you could tell the roast potatoes and veg had been reheated and not fresh, and nothing was hot again, the roast beef was undercooked and verging on raw, desserts which used to be the best appeared to be prepackaged and tasteless. Tables not cleared promptly and no one taking drinks orders. Went down for our favorite buffet breakfast only to be told as they didnt have any guests they weren't doing the buffet breakie and was handed a menu of a few items eggs with everything basically and iam allergic to eggs, so checked out early and went elsewhere, reception staff very uninterested to hear our concerns, time to find a new favourite hotel of our auckland visits, dont think we will be going here again
Wow this place has downgraded a lot! The deep pool was green and so dirty, the stairs in to the pool were slippery I ended up slipping and braking my toe. Spa wasn't working. No more room service and if you want a meal, their buffet is $50 per person! Won't be back Noteworthy details: Do not recommend! Facilities need a thorough clean and safety checks put in place
Have stayed here many times for business trips to Auckland, over several years. The hotel is in dire need of refreshing. It’s use as a quarantine site during the Covid pandemic shows in wear and tear. The hotel also needs to seriously improve onsite food options and hours. It’s not close to other good food options like anywhere in the CBD or Auckland, so that makes it hard to stay here with little to no reliable food options onsite.
Nice and great view for viewing sunrise and sunset , sufficient carpark provided . Periodically counter service at front reception counter . Receptionist took a talk at Cafe counter , insufficient waiter for table services , quality of foods and drinks are normal standard , food refilled was not frequently. Coffee filling is offered upon requested . Very busy at Cafe bar at dinner time , and all of the customers were kiwi after function . Swimming pool was closed for maintence , No slipper was provided at VIP rooms . Hard of finding room services around the church .
