LIARS and THIEVES!! I took my mountain bike in for an adjustment on the gears slipping. They said before starting the job that: 1 - It would most likely be well under $200 2 - It would probably not need new parts, just an adjustment. 3 - If it did need replacement shifters and/or derailer and/or chain, they would call me first. 4 - If it was over $200 they would call me to confirm I wanted the job done. 5 - If they did replace the parts, (after asking for my go ahead), they would keep the old ones and let me have them back. Can you guess? They did not call to tell me anything or ask if I agreed to any parts being changed. When I went to pick the bike up, the bill was $420. They had changed the derailer and the shifters, replacing them with significantly cheaper parts. (Shimano, but two levels lower than the Shimano I had.) They did not have the old ones for me, saying they had thrown them away. Enough said. Just disgusting. I hope Karma is real, because they have it coming to them.
