Story

Las Chicas is an institution on the Balaclava block – it’s an icon without the attitude. Open every day of the year except Christmas day, our friendly staff, speedy service and warm village feel keep our customers coming back for more.

When we use a word like ‘local’ we’re talking about partnering with local businesses like Felice’s Place Gourmet Meats in Elwood – who deal only in free range, chemical and hormone free, all-natural meat products.

When we use a word like ‘fresh’ we’re talking about only using the very freshest of products – like sourcing our eggs from Country Pride in Devon Meadows, one of the few farms producing 100% of their own feed – and sourcing 100% raw, organic panela sugar as an alternative to highly processed sugar.

When we use a word like ‘sustainable’ we’re not entirely sure what we’re talking about – but we do try to obtain food in a way that means our great grandkids will eat well too.

We also pride ourselves on making our own chutneys, preserves and muffins – in fact we make almost every product we serve. And we’ve been doing all this for over a decade.
