What a crazy cool little place! Love it. Really nice staff. Great coffee and food, heaps of seats. Who doesn’t love seating! The bonus is, if you’re after coffee in this area, it’s one of the quieter places, and it’s great! I’ll def be back.
Good atmosphere and ambiance with great staff. The food was good and came out quite quickly. I had an issue with my first meal because I misunderstood the menu and they were very understanding and changed it without any fuss at all. It was very kind of them. Thank you again 'Treehouse'. I will definitely be back.
We got off to a mini rocky start by showing up a little earlier than they opened, as they haven't amended their trading hours on Google or their website nor does their website work well - you can't look up the menu for example. But the benefit of waiting until right as they opened their doors, is that the place was quiet and there wasn't much waiting. I ordered the "Gone Fishing" which essentially is like a delicious eggs benedict but with a potato rosti instead of toast, and comes with kale and a stunning béarnaise sauce. It's not only beautifully presented, but really tasty and delish. It's quite filling, so at $19 it's pretty well priced. The staff were friendly, and parking wasn't too difficult, so that, combined with delicious food at reasonable prices, will definitely have me coming back here again.
I love any excuse to visit Balaclava - especially when my destination is as good as this. Treehouse Lounge is a large cafe with heaps of vegan and vegetarian options - there are modification options for nearly every dish. It was so hard to choose what to get but I went for the Mediterranean breakfast, featuring large, soft falafel instead of sujuk. The haloumi drew me to this dish, but every component it included was great. Haloumi also drew me to the corn and zucchini fritters, which were a bit fibrous but nicely flavoured with beautifully charred leeks and romesco. I got coffee to accompany meal as well as the cafe's special banana smoothie bowls. The peanut butter, banana and salted caramel flavour was unbelievably thick and large and filing. It was so much, I had to take some home. I would gladly revisit Treehouse Lounge for this dish alone but surely wouldn't be able to leave without trying a few more.
Unfortunately This place isn’t as good as it used to be. I ordered the shakshuka with the vegan option, but I didn’t realise this meant I was just going to get tomato and bread for $18. There was no vegan alternative offered for the halloumi, fried egg or goats cheese that comes with the regular dish, they simply removed those items. If you’re going to make this the ‘vegan option’ at least make it cheaper. Service was also incredibly slow and it seemed understaffed. Pros: good location and the atmosphere inside is nice.
Had been in Carlisle St for ages and has always been a good spot for a nice breakfast or lunch. Unlike many spots it offers some alcoholic beverages to jazz up a weekend brunch. The bloody Mary is very moreish. The Carlisle Street shrooms is a real treat, with a true mix of seasonal mushrooms on a cornbread base. Topped with a poached egg, it's a good choice. As is the Avo Smash which features a generous serve of avo and good quality goat's curd.
Friendly staff, food was amazing and coffee was great we definitely will come back
Really nice place. A good selection in the menu at decent prices. Staff were helpful and a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Menu item below is 'Gone Fishing'. P.S. that's a poached egg not sour cream under my salmon.
Nice! New interior, new menu and the best Ham-hock Benedict I ever had! While listening to smooth, relaxing Cafe Jazz.
What a charming space. The service was incredible, as for Emilia in particular. The cocktails I tried, the whiskey sour and the old fashioned were what I sampled, were sublime. A victory all round.
