A nice warehouse style cafe with great vibes! Fast service and the staff were friendly and coffee was nice. I got the smashed avo with bacon and poached eggs - I think they should have served the smashed avo on the toast instead of having to assemble it yourself and butter it too …
Nice place and staff are friendly. Food is really good and yum . I loved the almond croissant and rest also good in taste, quality, quantity. Must visit place.
Both decaf and regular long blacks were really good. We had the veggie breakfast and eggs benedict and really enjoyed their fun twist on the flavors. I thought the hollandaise sauce was creamy and not too rich, our avocado was unripe though. The baked I think mushrooms yummy, baked beans was like spicy, warm soul food in a bowl and those potato rectangular things . I could eat a whole bowl of those! We went around lunch time to beat the brunch rush, still busy but service was lovely and quick. The menu on the website isn’t updated, slightly different options and about $3-4 more, pretty standard cafe price around the area.
Been here twice for the review. The coffee here is great but lacking of staff members, been standing for a table over 15mins but everyone was busy to sit us down. Asked for chilli scramble egg but it awfully done and another scramble egg came as well done egg, burnt bread slices. The staff gave a steak knife she they knew they stuffed their slices. The staffs were doing their best under pressure and understaff. But would not visit again.
Beautiful experience! Very friendly stuff! I am coeliac and the waiter double-checked twice about my dietary requirements. Colourful and bright environment!
Balaclava doesn't have too many good cafes, but this one is definitely good. The menu isn't extensive, neither there is any novelty on the plate but the food is so Good thar it doesn't matter. The coffee and chai were equally good. The space is so cool but lacks the vibe, and attendants look so bored and uninterested, that it adds to the dull ambience. Portions are small compared to the pricing, but, good food make-up all for it.
I have been to this place several times and each experience worse than the last, I live close by so I keep telling myself I will try it again hoping to find something good. I want to ask the chefs what they think they are doing exactly, I ordered eggs Benedict and it comes out with all these crazy ingredients that should not be on an eggs Benedict, pomegranate etc, if you are going to add extras to a dish can you please say that clearly on the menu, don’t try to reinvent eggs Benedict for god sake. And for the service, waiting 15 mins for someone to take my order in a more than half empty cafe, it makes sense why wall 280 next door is thriving, can have my order taken in there before I even sit down. Rant over
The team at GM were on point today. The service was sharp and the food excellent. We popped in for a late brunch and ordered the big breakfast x2. The eggs were very slightly overcooked but everything else on the plate made up for that minor issue. It’s a gorgeous old factory that’s really fun to eat at. Try it.
We spontaneously decided to drop by for a coffee and a bite to eat, shared a GM Eggs benedict between two and it was a solid choice. The potato rosti is delightfully textured, paired with a beautiful chipotle hollandaise and perfectly cooked eggs, we savored every bite. Its worth mentioning that they do great oat milk lattes - which is a feat in itself.
Great friendly staff. Awesome brunch. Coffee ok. I had the smoked trout which was fantastic the potato rosti were amazing. I'm not a big fan of Illy coffee as it's a little too vanilla tasting for my liking. Could chill at this place all day!
