Irasshaimase! Welcome to Kusu Kusu, a new Japanese-influenced lunch spot in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.

Kusu Kusu means 'to chuckle' in Japanese, so it's fitting that we've moved into the previous home of Chuckle Deli in Melbourne's Hub Arcade.

Delicious lunch option in the middle of the city. I opted for the full vegan board with a vegan pocket, red leaf salad and festival of mushroom sandwich. The pocket nice, the pumpkin miso paste was delicious. The red leaf salad was refreshing with pieces of orange and apples. The radicchio added a nice bitterness to the sweet fruit and finally the mushroom sanga. It was amazing. The smell of it as it was put in front of had my mouth salivating. A strong earthy mushroom aroma complimented by the seeded mustard sauce was to die for. The toasted. turkish bread was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Can't wait to try their other menu options, especially the curry !
Probably the best vegan toastie in Melbourne. The Mushroom Sanga is far more than it's under-played ocker name implies but that was evident by the old school cosy shop. It really is a case of the sum of its parts. A simple but perfect balance of roasted mushrooms, spinach, herbs and some kind of awesome melty vegan cheese. A little on the small side, with no obvious options for sides, but well worth it. Pure vegan comfort.
This is a really good place to have lunch with friends! The cafe is actually tucked inside the Hub arcade as opposed to being a shop on the street. The place is not very big but the atmosphere is welcoming and cosy. There are vegetarian options and the staff will let you know if anything is unavailable in advance. You'll be greeted very warmly by staff and given a brief run down of how you can order single menu items in sets in multiple combinations. Although the menu isn't very big, the food is delicious - the flavours are perfect. The accompanying picture is my order of the Shiitake Basil Pasta Salad and one curry puff chicken as a set. The combination of my order really gave me that elusive and incredible umami hit, but the salad was particularly delicious. The sets are good value for money. I'm definitely coming back to try more of the menu! Thank you Kusu Kusu for a lovely lunch :
Awesome food, great feel to the place
