We booked in for this summer seafood for 2 from groupon, and it is an unforgettable experience. Service is really great. Waitresses are all Asian girls, and work so fast with pretty smile on the face. The food are impressive, rich in flavor and creative in combination. Especially enjoyed the kingfish sashimi. My husband and I agreed that's the hightlight of the menu. The lobster tail is quite big, and cooked on a hot stone in front of us, and that caught attention of several people dining there. Will recommend.
The food and service was worth the price with a Groupon voucher. The environment is pretty romantic with blue and red light, so can be a good place for dating. The service really depended on the staff who served you. Because we had 11-course meal, and the Asian-look staff always introduced the dishes when she served us. But when it was other staff who gave us the dish, they just put the plate down without any explanation.
We had purchased the Groupon Offer for the 10 Course Degustation with Cocktail Upgrade for $174 for two people. We were not disappointed! I am rating at 5 stars because of the value for money in the Groupon deal for what is normally $340. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The wait-staff were pleasant and explained each course as it was brought out. Cocktails start at $20, however the wine menu was a lot more than your average restaurant starting at $69 for a bottle. We enjoyed views of Darling Harbour with the fresh breeze.
Dishes here are designed to be shared. Their menu is extensive offering sushi, sashmi, seafood, meats, banquets and other modern Japanese dishes. The restaurant itself is very open with a nice view overlooking the harbour. Just note you may need to eat a little quicker and bring a cardigan if there's a breeze. There's lots of set menus available but they're definitely on the pricier side and many banquets have a minimum of 3 people. Because of this we decided to order individual dishes including seafood which you cook at the table on a hot rock included kingfish, tuna, salmon, scallops, mushrooms, asparagus, rich butter for cooking and 3 sauces - ponzu, seaweed, mayo, teriyaki chicken tasty, sauce was thin/runny - which was fine, just different and gin and tonic oysters I love oysters but these were just average - maybe it's seasonal. We tried a few cocktails 'lost in translation', 'Tokyo slipper' and 'sunset' - I liked the latter two because they were a bit more tropical with pineapple juice. Lastly we had desserts of chocolate fondant yummy! Rich! and their twist on sticky date pudding.
Great dining experience. $$$. Waterfront venue, great service. Excellent for a special occasion. You may want to bring something warm as it may get cold at night if you sit outside. The heaters might be too powerful so it gets too hot if you sit close to it.
Excellent view of the water, especially with the low angle sun. Quiet, good for low talking. Attentive non-obtrusive service. Great food. The number 1 special was very special as usual. The steak was very tasty and melt-in-mouthy, minimal chewing required. The chocolate lava was so dark that not even light could escape. The Kimi To Boku cocktail was well sized and coloured perfectly for romanticism.
My boyfriend took me here for a surprise bday dinner. It was a great experience with well trained chefs giving you a spectacular show and nice views of the harbour. The lobster was cooked so great, no faults given.
Got lunch special bento boxes. Friendly staffs but wait a long time for some raw fish... little bit pricey for small and average food. Too much butter and cheese for seafood bento overpowered the fresh fish taste.
Came here for a degustation course and we loved every dish! Miso soup was a little too salty, but everything else was absolutely amazing. The waterfront view was great too, and staff were nice and polite, they even wrote a birthday message on the dessert plate as a surprise for me.
A pleasant lunch setting overlooking Darling Harbour. The food was okay, with the duck being good. The waitress was nice, but seemed to be looking after the whole dining room albeit not that busy, given it was a wet Tuesday lunch. All in all, a nice experience.
