Let’s Talk Candles nnI’ve burned candles from just about everywhere in the world over the years—from the really expensive boutique brands to the supermarket bargains—and one thing I’ve learned is that price doesn’t always reflect quality.nnThis candle cost around $16 AUD from Kmart, and honestly, it’s one of the nicest surprises I’ve had in a long time.nnIt’s a soy wax blend, and before anyone dismisses that, it’s worth remembering that a wax blend isn’t a bad thing. In fact, many luxury candle brands use blends because they often perform better than 100% soy. A well-formulated blend can burn more evenly, throw fragrance better, and last longer.nnAnd that’s exactly what this one does.nnThe burn has been consistently even, with no tunnelling, very little soot, and a nice steady flame. The melt pool forms beautifully, so you’re not left with wasted wax around the edges. Best of all, it seems to last forever, making it incredible value for the money.nnThen there’s the fragrance.nnPeony Amber is one of those scents that’s just… beautifully balanced. I can’t pick out one note that dominates, and that’s what makes it feel so sophisticated. It doesn’t scream floral, it isn’t overly sweet, and the amber doesn’t become heavy. It simply creates a warm, elegant atmosphere that makes the room feel inviting. To me, that’s the sign of a really well-crafted fragrance. And it’s not the only fragrance to enjoy! There’s more!nnI think people often assume that spending $70 or $80 on a candle guarantees a better experience, but that hasn’t always been my experience. I’ve had expensive candles that tunnelled, burned too hot, or barely filled a room with scent. Meanwhile, this affordable Kmart candle has quietly outperformed many of them.nnAt the end of the day, I judge a candle on how it burns, how long it lasts, and how it makes a room feel—not by the price tag or the label.nnThis one proves that sometimes the best finds are sitting on a shelf at Kmart, not behind the glass cabinet in a luxury homewares store.nnRating: nnSometimes dismissing something because it’s from Kmart is just plain snobbery. Good quality doesn’t always come with a luxury price tag!
The Easter shopping vibe at Kmart was lovely, especially thanks to the friendly, petite lady at the entrance. She was so welcoming and provided great customer service. Her bright outfit and hairbands really lifted the mood, something we all need with prices going up these days. Great job!
I am very disappointed with the service I received today.nnAbout eight minutes before closing time, the staff member at the entrance allowed us into the store. I urgently needed to purchase electrical sockets, and after asking for assistance, we were directed to the wrong aisle.nnWhile we were walking to find the item, another staff member approached us and insisted that we leave the store immediately without allowing us to complete our purchase. She also mentioned that she was “not paid overtime,” which I found to be an unprofessional comment to make to customers.nnIf the store was no longer accepting customers, we should not have been allowed to enter in the first place. Instead, we were let in, given incorrect directions, and then asked to leave without being able to purchase the item we urgently needed, even though there was still time before the store officially closed. At the same time, there were still two customers at the checkout paying for their purchases. I was already holding the socket plugs I intended to buy, but I was not given the same opportunity to pay. This was inconsistent and felt unfair. If the store was no longer accepting customers, we should not have been allowed to enter in the first place.nnThis was a very frustrating and disappointing experience. I hope Kmart reviews how closing time is managed so customers receive consistent and professional service.
Outstanding Service from Hudson —nnA True Customer Service Star!nI recently visited Kmart and was assisted by Hudson with printing photos. Despite being only 17 years old, Hudson demonstrated a level of professionalism and maturity well beyond his years.nFrom the moment I approached him, his knowledge, kindness, and patience were truly remarkable. He is, without a doubt, the first customer service officer I have ever encountered who radiated such genuine positivity and warmth. It was a refreshing and memorable experience.nI strongly believe Kmart needs more team members like Hudson. With his outstanding attitude and capabilities, I have no doubt he could become one of the youngest managers Kmart has ever seen — and he would absolutely deserve it.nI give Hudson a perfect 10 out of 10 for his product knowledge, customer service skills, kindness, and patience. He is a true inspiration to anyone who interacts with him.nAll the very best, Hudson — your future is incredibly bright!
Constantly confirming Click and Collect orders when there’s is no stock. Management advising it’s not Kmarts fault it’s “head office’s” fault and it’s a bunch of kids doing it so it’s to be expected.nnManagement understaffs the click and collect location. Turn around time 25mins to find out that they did not have both items in stock after confirming both items ready for pick up.
