Visiting Bairnsdale for business and booked two nights accommodation at Kananook Heritage House. While it would be an ideal romantic getaway it's also great for work. Quiet spot and plenty of space to set up the lap top etc. to prepare for back-to-back meetings. Great to be able to cook light dinners in the fully-equipped kitchen. I can't thank Suzanne enough for being flexible with the re-booking when original dates were postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. Will be back for sure when next in Bairnsdale!
Great stay after a very long road trip. Just what we needed. The property is clean and light and just lovely to be in. Really well laid out and equipped. Suzanne such a great host and couldn't do enough. Loved how dog friendly the house was too. Be back again next time we are down that way.
Very comfortable bed, very clean space and the waterfall shower was heaven. Suzanne even had chocolates for us for the whole stay and we ate most of it. Suzanne was very prompt with replies while communicating and even gave us a fishing report the next day. We had 2 of our fur babies with us who couldn’t be trusted with the farm gates, so letting them roam outside on their own wasn’t an option. Great place to stay if you wanna avoid the more touristy towns, like Lakes Entrance during school holidays. Short drive to Lakes Entrance, Metung and Paynesville.
Kananook Heritage House - so peaceful! We booked this accommodation as we wanted to take our furbaby with us for the long weekend and this place was one of the only "pet friendly" accom that was left as we booked late just before a long weekend. Although not our usual style of place to book, we were pleasantly surprised about how this place felt and looked. Even though it is a restored historical home from the 1800's it had a luxurious and modern feel with the old school character and charm the flooboards are from the original home!. The outdoor courtyard was very private and quiet and the surrounding trees and shrubs were so pretty with the change of season showing. The bathroom/shower was soooo nice with mod cons and the kitchen benchtops were stunning! The kitchen was perfect for us to cook with everything you needed inlcuding pots and pans, lovely crockery and even a dishwasher!! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the pillows were perfect! A great location with a beautiful walk along the river is just a short stroll away and the township is only a 5 minute car ride. The hotel owner Suzanne was very accommodating with our late check in, she respected our privacy but was only a text away if we need anything. All in all, it was a lovely stay and we were very lucky to have found this place. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting an old school country get away , but still only a few mins to the town centre and a great central place to stay if you are wanting to explore East Gipplsand. Thanks Suzanne!
Beautiful, peaceful retreat with gorgeous views of the orchard and farmland nearby from the private deck. A very comfortable king size bed with luxury touches all around. Suzanne made us feel very welcome and was flexible with dates while Covid restrictions kept changing. Highly recommended.
My wife and I recently stayed at the 1880's "Private Residence". The beautiful high ceilings, excellent Queen sized bed we slept very well and thoughtful touches like coffee pods, Lindt chocolates and lillies made our retreat weekend extra special. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck in an oasis of green. Whilst we didn't need these as the weather was mild, we were delighted to see a gas heater and reverse cycle air con in place. We had a thoroughly relaxing time on the edge of Bairnsdale with a working orchard and walking trails on our doorstep. Perfect! And to top it off, we left some clothes behind and Sue kindly sent these Express Post to us! Now that's service!
Wonderful river valley views across green pastures and orchard. The Private apartment in the 1880s Kananook original Homestead is spacious with beautiful decor. It’s so very relaxing to eat dinner on veranda with view of countryside with Australian wildlife flying overhead. What a great base to explore swimming and boating spots like Newlands Arm and Paynesville. Thanks for a relaxing and refreshing Getaway!
In one word Beautiful. Loved the location, the home. What a real treat. Host was interesting and if you like history there is a big story behind this home historically and current history. Well worth the drive and local dining superb. I will certainly return with my dogs. They will love the walks and the fresh air.
Had a wonderful stay at Kananook Heritage House, loved the attention to detail in the house - the rooms were fantastic. Located next to a beatufiul orchard where you can buy fresh apples and raspberries. The owner was friendly and very helpful with our stay and providing information for the local area. Would definitely stay again.Rooms: 5/5
Suzanne is a very thoughtful, responsive and flexible hostess. The accommodation is of a high standard. We had a wonderful stay both inside and in the private outdoor area. Thank you!Rooms: 5/5
