Be careful backpackers!! 1 star is too much. You'd be better off sleeping in the street, that would be way safer and cleaner. Parties till 5 am, restless night, people not sleeping at the hostel have the code to get in, they steal and sell drugs, which are then consumed in the most unpleasant bathroom I've ever seen, it's hard to call it a bathroom really. I've placed my formal complaint to the manager and he didn't even apologize or work out a compensation for us. So far unpleasant staff, rotten facilities, open to anyone at anytime and very deteriorated building. Scam scam scam. I would have posted pictures but we got thrown out at 4 am by somebody who early said he was a staff member when he actually we discovered later that he wasn't, he wasn't even staying in the hostel, he just had the codes. Unbelievable

This place is decent budget accommodation with central and keeping with traditional Brisbane style. The most people staying were decent, a few rat bags, the ones slagging it off mostly in the other comments, management did well to kick them out because they're mostly the reason I checked out at Christmas/new year of 2016/2017. Was a great to do on Christmas with a lunch provided and they have a big screen and drinking on the balcony as ok. Bathrooms need updating but I understand it's in the pipeline (pun intended) overall I'll stay here again, but I recommend short stayers 4-6weeks or a private room if they have it. Happy travels.

Great backpackers. Manager, Luigi was really helpful, and the staff were cool. The hostel is small but friendly, and if you work then the low prices make it easy to save money. Probably has the best showers in Brisbane and a great kitchen. Cannot understand all the negativity about signs, not many when I was there, and the rules seem pretty sensible and mean the place is clean and organised. Location is great, feels safe, and atmosphere nice and laid back. highly recommended

Do not come here! The owner is known (I've seen this myself many times) for sexualy abusing female guests. How the owner Luigi Rocella has not been put in jail for sexualy abusing people is actually amazing. As for the 4 and 5 star reviews these were written by staff members who worked at joes place at the time. In short if your a woman dont come here. If your daughter sister girlfriend or wife is planning to come here don't. And if your man dont waste your time theres better, cheaper and places where you dont have to fund a sexual predator. *edit* The reason for this review to took so long to write as the same problems as I mentioned in my review are apparently still happening now which a friend of mine told me about. End of the day I'm willing to look past this and remove this review if you apologise for what you have done. I stole a drink yes, i didn't kick up a fuss I apologised and I left. Its now time for you to appologise. You don't need to make it public you can do it privately but I can't remain silent about this again.

Horrible. Worst backpackers I've ever seen. Noisy the whole night, really dirty and the smell.. wow. We got an room without a glass in the window - what?
