ibis budget Fawkner

Right at the top edge of Melbourne, it's easy to find. The whole place could use a bit of a scrub up, especially the outside and the communal kitchen. Reception was clean and we were greeted by a smile. Our room is very basic but clean. There is a tiny fridge, a kettle & a TV in the room. The aircon was on for our arrival which was nice to walk in to. The shower & loo are similar to what you would find in a caravan but really that's all we need for a quick stopover.

Cheap, comfy, aircon works well, quiet, does the job. Despite it being located on the corner of two major roads and a metropolitan railway line, you can't hear anything at all. Very small and compact rooms, the shower arrangement is rather unusual.

This place is just one step above a crack den. And only just. Front desk guy was awesome, gave me a MYKI card. Great directions etc. However this does not compensate the fact that the hallways are smoked in. Had to stay here as Melbourne was as full as Bethlehem circa 0000 A.D. due to the Gran Prix. The place is about to fall down. There window was falling off. Still secure but the gap between the window and frame was enough that I had to wear a jumper to bed and we are only just in to autumn. Don’t do it unless you have too. Check my reviews I’m usually very positive/have realistic expectations.

Their sign says 'Comfy beds, great breakfast and free wifi*' and that's what you can expect. Not a touch more, though. Towels on the rack were still taken even though I didn't want them to be washed. I was late checking out, but they didn't charge me extra, so that was really awesome.

The room has decent beds, with clean sheets. The bathroom fan does not turn off, and sounds like someone vaccuming 2 rooms over. The fridge in our room had a rattle, and the door card took about 15-20 tries to finally open. The room was fairly clean, and it was cheap.
